18、Test procedure.- Each of the sample smoke indicators selected in accordance with 4.2.3 ahall be tested for satisfactory operation and ruggedness of construction. Failure of any sample to pass this test shall be cause for rejecting the lot. Possible test failures are defined as follows: (a) Evidence

19、of light beam not visible to operator; lamp and lamp socket not operable; optid lens (b) Frame will not adjust to give iight beam over specified range. (c) Reflective backing coated not effective; evidence of pits, cmcks; not watertight or air-proof. (d) Indicator cannot show difference between no s

20、moke and smoke of trace density at top of boiler does not give clear beam; dimensions nonconforming. smoke pipe. 4.5 Sampling and inspection of cleaning aid packaging.- Sampling and inspection of cleaning and packag- ing shall be performed in accordance with MIL - P 116 t o verify conformance with t

21、he requirements of section 5 herein. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Domestic shipment and early equipment installation and for storage of onboard repair parts.- 5.1.1 Smoke indicators.- 5.1.1.1 Preservation and packaging.- Preservation and packaging shall be sufficient to afford adequate protection

22、 against corrosion, deterioration and physical damage during shipment from the supply source to the using activity and until early installation and may conform to the suppliers commercial practice when such meets these requirements. All openings shall be sealed to prevent entrance of foreign matter.
