1、 A-A-59682 November 28, 2000 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION VALVE, INFLATION, 25-PERSON LIFERAFT The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description identifies the requirements of the inflati

2、on valve for 25-person life rafts. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Design and construction. 2.1.1 Design: The operation of the valve shall not be dependent on springs. 2.1.2 Operation Gas: Breathable air. 2.1.3 Operation Pressure: 5000 psi (nominal) at 72 degrees Fahrenheit. 2.1.4 Operational Tempera

3、ture Range: minus 20F to 160F. 2.1.5 Required Operational Service Time: Minimum four years before overhaul. 2.1.6 Material: Corrosion resistant characteristics equivalent or better than those offered by Class 316 stainless steel. 2.1.7 Leakage Rate (Maximum): Equivalent to 2.25x10-5 cc/sec when pres

4、surized at 5000 psi using Helium gas without the use of caps or plugs. 2.1.8 Discharge Rate: 99 percent of the cylinder charge in less than 45 seconds, when installed on a 455 cubic inch air cylinder charged to a nominal pressure of 5000 psi. 2.1.9 Safety Relief Device: Actuate at a pressure range b

7、nd have an integral safety pin to prevent accidental inflation prior to final installation. 2.1.11 Cylinder Interface: Externally threaded 1 1/16-12UN 2A with one inch total full thread length. 2.1.12 Discharge Port: Externally threaded, .375-18 NPS and configured with a removable anti-recoil fittin

8、g which disperses the discharge gas perpendicular to the centerline axis of the fitting in four directions (90 degrees apart). Discharge port shall be equipped with a swivel-type fitting to accommodate the inflation hose. 2.1.13 Adaptability: The valve body is of sufficient material strength and thi

9、ckness at the cylinder connection to permit machining to modify the 1 1/16-12UN 2A valve thread to fit an air cylinder having a 7/8 inch diameter internally threaded port. 2.1.14 Water-tightness: No evidence of moisture present internally after submergence in a seawater bath to a depth of one (1) fo

10、ot for a period of 48 hours. 2.1.15 Serviceability: The valve must be serviceable by shop personnel utilizing normal shop tools except for any special bleed-down tools or special disassembly tools required to restore the valve to as new condition. 2.2 Physical characteristics. The required physical

11、characteristics of the valve are: 2.2.1 Weight: Less than 2 lbs. 2.2.2 Volume: Less than 3 cubic inches, not including the lanyard. 2.2.3 Lanyard: Plastic/nylon coated, ten (10) inches in length with an open/close end fitting. 2.2.4 Label: Permanent and indelible manufacturer label which includes co

12、ntract number and valve serial number. 2.2.5 Serial number: Five (5) digit sequential and non-repeating number beginning at 30000. 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the

13、 Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and b

14、e the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 15、de evidence that the item has been available commercially for at least five years and is currently being provided on 25-person life rafts manufactured by at least two manufacturers. Commercial items having a failure rate greater than 0.03 percent shall not be considered for purchase. Test methods us

16、ed for compliance to these requirements where necessary shall be approved commercial standards. 4.3 Documentation. Prospective offerors shall provide a representative valve for submittal along with documentation of conformance to the requirements of this commercial item description. 5. PACKAGING. Pr

17、eservation, packing and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order. 6. NOTES 6.1 Intended use. This valve is used in conjunction with a 5000 psi (nominal) air charged cylinder as the primary device for automatically inflating the Navy 25-Person Mark 6 Life Raft. 6.2 Ordering data. Acquis
