5、 continuous elastomeric tape helically wound to overlap and underlay a hard drawn wire. These air duct products are used in heater, defroster and similar applications. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers general requirements, property and performance requirements, quality, identification, source app

6、roval and quality control. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the CEMS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified the latest issue of all referen

7、ced standards shall apply. The following Specifications, Standards, and Regulations are referenced in this specification. 8、0 FMVSS 302 4.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Style I - Obsolete, use Style II 4.2 Style II (Rubber Cover) 4.2.1 Steel Wire Spacing: Shall be shown on engineering drawing. Diameter: 0.94-0.99 mm (0.037-0.039 in) Ultimate Tensile Strength: 1.38 GPa (200 000 psi) minimum, Type 2, Type 3, or Type 6 wire per

9、 CEMS A-9 may be used at the option of the supplier. Wire should be protected from corrosion in transit and storage prior to fabrication. 12、lastic elastomers, may be used with the approval of TDTC Materials Engineering. 4.3 Style III Same As Style II except Tape Thickness shall be 0.25-0.33 mm (0.010-0.013 in) 4.4 Property And Performance Requirements Tests performed on 50 mm (2.0 in) duct 4.4.1 Burst Strength: ASTM D 751 Required: 138

13、kPa (20 psi) minimum 4.4.2 Vacuum Collapse: ASTM D 622 Required: Shall withstand 0.89 m (35 in) water vacuum with 2.5 mm (0.010 in) maximum collapse. 4.4.3 Crush Resistance Required: Shall withstand 1.46 kN/lineal meter (100 lbf/lineal foot) minimum. 4.4.4 Odor: There shall be no objectionable odor

14、as judged by an appropriate jury after aging a 300mm section for 4 hours at 70C. To be evaluated hot. 4.4.5 Plasticizer Volatility 4.4.5.1 Method: Heat elastomer (no wire) for 5 hours at 104 C (220 F) in a forced convection oven. Cool in desiccator. 4.4.5.2 Required: No appreciable change in materia

15、l pliability, and weight loss shall not exceed 2%. 4.5 Flammability Resistance Material and parts supplied to this specification shall conform to and be certified by the supplier to meet the requirements of the latest issue of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 302. 5.0 QUALITY All product su

16、pplied shall be clean and free from dirt, oils, sharp edges, or defects harmful to product performance. Finished duct shall be free from objectionable odor and be flexible and suitable for bending and forming. It shall be concentric, and wire coils shall be evenly spaced and bonded to the coated fab

17、ric cover. Coated cover shall be uniform in texture and color and free from pinholes, cuts, folds, and tears. 5.1 Qualification Materials submitted for approval to this specification shall include the following: NUMBER: TMS-6003 TITLE: Wire Reinforced Air Duct REVISION: 0904 This document is restric

APRIL 2009 Page 3 of 4 5.1.1 A detailed, signed test report documenting testing to this specification per

19、TMS-9543. 5.1.2 The complete procedure used for preparing and curing materials for test, especially surface preparation (when appropriate) and condition of the test materials. 5.1.3 A complete description, including engineering prints and pictures of any non-standard test fixtures used. 5.1.4 Adhesi

20、ve, substrate and any chemicals used for bonding where appropriate. 5.2 Submission The material test report shall be submitted to: Manager of Materials Engineering NAVISTAR, Inc. PO Box 1109 Fort Wayne, IN 46801 5.3 Approval A report from Navistar will be issued approving new materials to this speci

21、fication. Formal approval is not granted until this report has been published and the new material is listed in this specification. However, the approval report may be used as authorization for usage of that approved material/process prior to a change to this specification. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND Q

22、UALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approv

23、al requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all

24、respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall

25、notify Materials Engineering, and Purchasing and Logistics of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples (when the results are ambiguous and not easily described or photographed with sufficient resolution), and new or amended or u

26、pdated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistic

27、al evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements

28、on specific products. 29、nc. APRIL 2009 Page 4 of 4 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION Loading, packing and identification shall be in accordance with Manufacturing Std. MS-D-13. 7.1 Identification Each hose shall be labeled or marked on the outer cover in a color contrasting to that of the hose color, in clearly legi

30、ble block capital letters not less than 3 mm (1/8 inch) high, with the following minimum information in the order listed: (a) Vendor Code - A four-or-five-digit code assigned by Navistar to each vendor. Contact Corporate Technical Standards, TDTC, for assignment of codes. (b) Hose Type - Identificat

31、ion by hose type, as required. (c) Size - Nominal size, i.e., diameter in fractions of an inch or “dash“ sizes, as required. (d) Date Code - The six-digit date code, with first two digits (01-12) representing the month, second two digits (01-31) representing the day, and last two digits (86) represe

32、nting the year, is the preferred method for date codes. Other methods of date code may be used by agreement between the purchaser and supplier. NOTE: In many cases, DOT, FMVSS, and/or SAE documents and specifications prescribe a specific marking identification procedure. Where identification require

33、ments of this specification conflict with DOT, FMVSS, and/or SAE requirements, the DOT, FMVSS, and/or SAE requirements shall prevail. 8.0 DESIGNATION ON DRAWINGS All new drawings shall specify duct style. Existing drawings referencing TMS-6003 without specifying a style shall be Style II constructio

34、n. Use of Style III (thinner cover) must be approved by Materials Engineering at TDTC.
