SCOPE. This commercial item description covers ha

2、nd tiles used for sharpening crosscut saws of the“Great American” style.2. CLASSIFICATION. Not Applicable3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.3.1 Desizrr. The tile shall have uniform width and thickness from heel to point. The two sides equal inwidth from heel to point and at equal angles with the median long

3、itudinal plane of the file, All cornersstraight and parallel from heel to point. Back rounded for tiling gullets. Single-cut (one set of parallelcuts on the surface) on back, sides and bottom edge. The file shall be of a carbon alloy steel.3.4 Shall be of a conventional shape and size suitable for attachment to a wood

7、handle.Tempered to a maximum hardness of 45 on the Rockwell C scale when tested per ASTM El 8. It shall obe measured at a point approximately midway of its length and width.3.5- Shall be designed for fast cutting and minimize clogging. Uniformly cut or etched and ofuniform height throughout the full

8、y cut portion. Cutting surfaces shall be hardened to a uniformhardness. The distrmce between the heel and point of the file, excluding the tang, shall be hardened tonot greater than 68 nor less than 64 on the Rockwell C scale when tested per ASTM E 18. The file shallbe free from decarburization and

9、brittleness.3.6 Marking. The file shall be marked with the name of the manufacturer or with a trademark of suchknown character that the source of manufacture maybe readily determined.3.7 Workmanship. The teeth of the file shall be well-defined, sharp, and uniform in height and formThere shall be no

10、evidence of rust or other defect which may impair serviceability, durability orappearance.4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.4.1 Recovered Materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to themaximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal acquisiti

11、on Regulation(FAR).4.2 Metric uroducts. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis a71with those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within the tolerances specified(using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 3

12、76) and all otherrequirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and thosedimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch- pound units, a request should be made to thecontracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.5, PRODUCT CONFORMANCE.

13、5.1 Product Conformmce. The product provided shall meet the salient characteristics of thisCommercial Item Description, conform to the producers own drawing, specifications, standards, andquality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market, Thegovernment re

14、serves the right to require proof of such conformance.5.2 Resuonsibilit for Inspection. Unless otherwise specified, the contractor is responsible for theperformance of all inspection requirements and may use any commercial facilities (inchrding thecontractors own facilities) suitable for performance

15、 of the inspection requirements, unless disapprovedby the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections deemednecessary to assure the item conforms to the specified requirements.6. PACKAGING. Preservation, packaging and marking shall be as specified in the contracto
