2、EWORD PURPOSE. The purpose of the Ford Motor Company Engineering CAD & Drafting Standards (FECDS) is to provide direction to Ford Motor Company Engineering Activities, Suppliers, and contract engineering companies for the preparation of Product, Manufacturing and Service technical drawings for use b

3、y Ford Motor Company and its suppliers. These Standards provide comprehensive information regarding the preparation and interpretation of engineering drawings and assist Ford Motor Companys engineering organizations to satisfy the principles of ISO/TS 16949. Definition of a Drawing as it pertains to

4、 the Ford Motor Company Engineering CAD & Drafting Standards. A drawing is a graphical representation to describe the design intent of objects and containing the necessary annotations to construct final products, models, machinery or tooling aids. NOTE: All drawings shall be created according to the

5、 latest version of FECDS unless tabulated on a drawing created according to a prior version of these standards. DEFINITION OF FIGURE REPRESENTATIONS AS USED IN THIS MANUAL. The figures in these Standards are intended only as illustrations to aid the user in understanding the principles and methods u

6、sed in the text. The absence of a figure illustrating the desired application is not a reason to assume inapplicability. In some instances, figures show added detail for emphasis. In other instances, figures are incomplete by intent. OPERATING BASIS. The Ford Motor Company Engineering CAD & Drafting

7、 Standards were consolidated from the former NAAO and EAO Product Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering Drafting Standards manuals by a designated working group. This working group was sponsored by the Strategic Standardization Organization, now Standards Operations (SO) and the Standards produc

8、ed by the working group were approved by a consortium of Chief Engineers from representative activities of the company. Responsibility for the content of the Ford Motor Company Engineering CAD & Drafting Standards resides with the office of the Director of Product Creation Processes. See Appendix D.

9、 Responsibility for the publication of the Ford Motor Company Engineering CAD & Drafting Standards and distribution of data resides with RVT CAD, PIM Methods and Knowledge Based Engineering Department. The Drafting Standards Committee shall have final approval of all changes prior to publication. EN

10、GINEERING CAD & DRAFTING STANDARDS Return to TOC DATABASE ORGANIZATION. These Standards are based on metric (SI) units of measure. The text is in English1and is worded so that the meaning cannot be misconstrued. The database for these Standards is maintained as an electronic file. The system used fo

11、r identification of the Standards is as follows: A 1SECTION OF THE STANDARD STANDARD NUMBER Each page, when printed, shall show the Original Issue date and the latest Re-issue date, and shall contain the Copyright, Ford Motor Company disclaimer and Printed copies are uncontrolled. REVISION PROCEDURE

12、. Activities may request to change a Ford Motor Company Engineering CAD & Drafting Standard by using the process identified in Appendix C. Activities can also use the downloadable Form emailed to the address below, see Appendix C. The Ford Motor Company Engineering CAD & Drafting Standards (FECDS) C

13、ommittee will convene, review and approve changes to the Ford Motor Company Engineering CAD & Drafting Standards. The FECDS Committee will review and action submitted proposals for change. These changes will be made to the electronic file and the updates will be issued 31 December. Revision requests

14、 received after 31 August may not be actioned until a subsequent issue of the standard. Proposals for change are submitted using the downloadable form from Appendix C.
