SCOPE This specification establishes the performance and product requirements for packaged service fill engine oils and is not intended to limit the material to any specific formulati
3、on, but rather defines the total performance required. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for oils marketed under the Motorcraft trademark and used for lubrication of automotive gasoline and diesel fueled internal combustion engines. The material defined by this specification
4、is suitable for spark ignition and most compression ignition engines, consistent with the original equipment manufacturers lubrication recommendations. The material also has heavy duty powershift transmission fluid applications for certain viscosity grades. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS
5、FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 Shall meet all of the requirements described in this specification to assure: (a) material approved to this specification satisfies all app
6、ropriate user and original equipment manufacturers requirements, (b) reliable test documentation is available to substantiate labeling and advertising claims, and (c) the packaged material is maintained at a uniform quality level which is equivalent to the originally approved formulation. 3.2 PERFOR
7、MANCE 3.2.1 Shall meet all the requirements of Ford Engineering Material Specification ESE-M2C153 (latest revision). 3.2.2 Shall satisfy all the requirements of the American Petroleum Institute (API) service categories “SF“ and “CD“ as defined in SAE Recommended Practice J183 (latest revision). 3.2.
8、3 Shall meet the requirements of Engine Oil Viscosity Classifications as defined by SAE Recommended Practice J300 (latest revision). 9、opyright 2009, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 2 of 6 3.2.4 Shall, for the applicable viscosity grades, meet all the performance requirements of the U.S. Government military specifications for internal combustion engine lubricating oils. (a) Administrative Service, MIL-L-46152 (latest revision).
10、(b) Tactical Service, MIL-L-2104 (latest revision). It shall also be the suppliers responsibility to obtain and renew as required, the corresponding military qualification numbers. The requirement to obtain the qualification numbers may be waived in writing by the affected product engineering office
11、. 3.2.5 Shall, for the applicable viscosity grades, meet all the performance requirements of Caterpillar Tractor Company Oil Test No. TO-2 (latest revision). 3.2.6 Shall, for the applicable viscosity grades, meet all the performance requirements of the Detroit Diesel Allison Division of General Moto
12、rs Corporation Transmission Engineering Specification for Hydraulic Transmission Fluid Type C-3 (latest revision). 3.2.7 Shall, for the applicable viscosity grades, meet all the performance criteria of Mack Trucks, Inc., general engineering specification for engine oil: Mack EO-J. 3.2.8 Shall meet t
13、he following physical properties for the SAE 15W-40 viscosity grade. (All other viscosity grades refer to para 3.2.1): (a) Viscosity at -15 C, max 3500 cP (mPas) (ASTM D 2602) (b) Viscosity at 100 C 12.5 - 16.3 cSt (mm2/s) (ASTM D 445) (c) Borderline Pumping Temperature, max -20 C (ASTM D 3829) (d)
14、Pour Point, max -23 C (ASTM D 97) (e) Flash Point, min 215 C (ASTM D 92) (f) Pour Stability (FTM #791 B Method 203) Stable Pour Point (FLTM BJ 020-01) The pour point temperature determined through each of these procedures must not revert above -23 C. After being cooled below its pour point, the oil shall regain its homogeneity on standing at a temperature which is not higher than 5
17、 C above the pour point. 3.3 FLEET TESTING Materials which, in the opinion of the affected product engineering office, constitute a significant departure from conventional formulations, whether in base stocks, refining processes or additive packages, must be fleet tested, in addition to the requirem
18、ents outlined above. These tests must include the type(s) of service judged to be affected by the difference in formulation technology. The affected product engineering office must agree that the tests are appropriate. Supplier shall report data from controlled oil fleet tests which he must accumula
19、te on candidate oils under service conditions representative of those specified by the individual vehicle manufacturers on vehicles equipped with current emission suppression devices. Such information, combined with engine sequence testing, constitutes proof of field performance of candidate oils wh
20、en run in fleets such as taxicab operations, police vehicle service, truck fleet service, low temperature stop-and-go tests and high speed durability tests. Fleet data on oil consumption, shear stability, PCV valve plugging, blowby, used oil analysis, main bearing weight loss, rod bearing weight los
21、s, camshaft lobe wear, valve lifter wear, valve tip wear, cylinder bore wear, ring gap increase, sludge and varnish ratings are required. Any of the above (para 3.3 only) requirements may be modified or waived in writing pending the review of the suppliers data by the affected product engineering of
22、fice. 3.4 DOCUMENTATION Supplier must furnish to the affected product engineering office complete test results for permanent retention. These results must be certified by a qualified and authorized representative of the supplying company and must demonstrate full compliance with all the physical, tr
23、ansmission and engine test requirements of this specification. All tests must be conducted in accordance with the most recently approved procedures and test conditions as supplemented by information letters. All tests, currently under surveillance by the American Society for Testing and Materials (A
24、STM), must be performed on test stands monitored by the ASTM Test Monitoring Center. All tests must be certified by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility. The test reports must include results on both the candidate oil and the appropriate reference oils (supplied by the ASTM
