SCOPE The materials defined by these specifications are synthetic resin base, solvent free, thumable high t
3、emperature curing sealers. 2. APPLICATION These materials are primarily used for sealing and feathering lap joints and voids such as corners of backlite openings and are used over oily steel in body shop (ESBFM4G176C) or freshly baked electrocoat primer over phosphated surfaces. (ESBFM4G176B). 3. RE
4、QUIREMENTS ESBFM4G176B ESBFM4G176C 3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESS X X Supplier must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality System Standard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as described therein is required for material/source approval. Appropriate statistical tools must be used to analyze proc
5、ess/products data so that variation in the final product is continuously reduced. 3.2 COLOUR As Approved As Approved 3.3 SOLIDS, minimum 99% 99% ASTM D 2046, except heat at 105 C for 3 h in a mechanical convection oven. 3.4 SPECIFIC GRAVITY The weight tolerance for any one supplier shall be +/- 0.02
6、4kg/L. Based on the recorded weight of the original approved production sample, as determined per STM D 816 3.5 CURE CHARACTERISTICS X X There shall be n evidence of plasticizer migration, cracking, blistering, loss of flexibility, or failure to adhere to body shop oily metal (as used in production)
7、 (ESBFM4G176C) or to phosphated and electrocoated metal (ESBFM4G176B). The sealer shall not cause tackiness of the primer or enamel, or discoloration of the enamel topcoat after exposure to current production baking schedules. 8、ntrolled Copyright 2008, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 2 of 7 Test Method: 3.5.1 Apply two, 5x25x250mm ribbons of sealer equally spaced for balance to two sets of panel: (A) For ESBFM4G176B: On two 305x305x0.75mm phosphated steel panels conforming to ESZM3P32A requirements and primed with ESBFM
9、64J19C1 electrocoat primer. (see 5.3) Spray with currently released polyester primer surfacer SK-FM6J9556-B, and bake to the minimum bake of 8 minutes at 113 C. Metal Temperature. Cool to 23 C and examine. (B) For ESBFM4G176C: On two 305x305x0.75mm CRLC oily (as used in production) steel panels phos
10、phated to ESZM3P32A requirements and primed with ESBFM64J19C1-4 electrocoat primer. (see 5.3) bake to the minimum electrocoat bake 5 minutes at 177 C. Metal Temperature. Cool to 23 C and examine. Spray with currently released polyester primer surfacer SK-FM6J9556-B, and bake 8 minutes at 113 C. Meta
11、l Temperature Note: The above minimum baking schedules simulate minimum metal temperature requirements for production usage. (2) Spray one of each set of panels with currently released ESZM50J109A white enamel. Spray the remaining panel from each set with ESBFM32J105D1/D2 silver basecoat clearcoat.
12、(3) Cool to 23 +/- -3 C and re-examine for any of the above conditions. Insert the tip of sharp knife under the edge of the ribbon and cut a tab 25-40 mm long. Grasp the tab and attempt to peel at 180 degrees along the 250mm dimension. Observe for any indication that the film fails to adhere, or is
13、brittle or friable. Note: Save sample for Low Temperature Resistance test per 3.18 3.6 HEAT STABILITY X X There shall be no evidence of blistering, cracking, charring or embrittlement when exposed to high temperatures. Test Method: Proceed as per 3.4, except: (a) Use a primer surfacer bake of 30 min
14、s at 165 C. Metal Temperature for ESBM4G176B, and (b) use an electrocoat bake of 30 mins at 190 C. Metal Temperature for ESBM4G176C. This simulates production overbake. Note: Save sample for Low Temperature resistance Test per 3.18 3.8 SHEAR ADHESION, min 1.4 Mpa 1.1 MPa (1) Apply a 6mm coating of t
15、he test material over 25.4mm square area on (A) CRLC oily steel (as used in production) for ESBFM4G176C, and (B) a phosphated and electrocoated panel for ESBFM4G176B. (see 5.3). (2) Place the appropriate like panel over the prepared panels as in (1), and ensure the bonded area equals 25.4mm square.

(A) for ESBFM4G176B 8mins at 113 C. metal Temperature. (B) for ESBFM4G176C 5
17、 mins. At 177 C. Metal Temperature. (4) Cool the assemblies to 23 +/- 3 C. Before removing the weights. (5) Four (4) hours after removing the weights, determine the shear adhesion in a tensile tester at a rate of 25.4 mm/min. 3.9 STAINING X X There shall be no staining or other deleterious effects o
18、n light coloured ESZM50J109A enamels or ESBFM32J105D1/D2 basecoat clearcoats, as a result of exposure to dry ultraviolet light. Test Method: Apply a 1.5x25x150mm ribbon of sealer as outlined per 3.4, for 2 panels. After bake, condition for 24 hours at 23 +/- 3 C. Mask on-half of the sealant ribbon a
19、nd expose one panel for 96 hours in the fluorescent sunlamp cabinet as specified FLTM BV 7-2. Examine the exposed and unexposed portions of the sealant. (Save one panel for weatherability test). 3.10 WEATHERABILITY X X There shall be no staining or deleterious effect on currently released ESZM50J109
20、A white enamel and ESBFM32J105D1/D2 silver basecoat clearcoat, as a result of weatherometer exposure. Test Method: Expose the seconf panel as prepared in the 3.9 for 250 hours, in an Atlas Weatherometer with a cam cycle of 102-18, as described in FLTM BN 1-1. 3.11 ADHESION TO OILY PANELS N/A X Shall
21、 not be peeled off in a continuous film at any thickness. Test Method: Apply a material daub (approximately 20g) to each of the two panels (min. and max. bake), and using the thumb, feather material along edges. In a vertical attitude, subject one test panel to the minimum e-coat bake schedule and t
22、he other to the maximum e-coat bake schedule. See 5.3 Then, expose these panels to the remaining full paint baking system schedule, including one enamel repair bake schedule. Condition panels after baking at 23 +/- 2 C. for 1 h minimum. Evaluate adhesion by cutting a 25mm wide strip across the mater
23、ial daub. Using the tip of a squared spatula, lift the material at one edge, then attempt to hand peel material at 90 degrees from substrate.
