19、berofcontainers.Thecontainersusedforthetestshallnot havebeensubjectedtoanyothermechanicalorthermaltestwhichcouldaffecttheirresistance. 3Apparatus 3.1 Press,orothersuitableapparatus,withthefollowingcharacteristics: a) Theapparatusshallbecapableofdevelopingthenecessaryforceandindicatingthisforcebymean

20、sofa pointerorrecordingdevicetoanaccuracyofatleast2,5%. b) Theapparatusshallconsistoftwohorizontalflatsteelpressureplates.Theupperplateshallbeselfaligning andtheloweroneshallbeprovidedwithcentringmarksonitssurface. c) Theapparatusshallbeequippedwithaprotectivecover,oreachtypeoftestcontainershallbepr

21、ovidedwitha sufficientlyfirmcylindricalcoversuitableforitsheightwhichshallbeslightlylowerthantheheightofthetest sample. 3.2 Pads,forexamplecardboardorseveralsheetsofpaper,topreventglasstometalcontactunderload. Inordertoobtainanevenloadandtopreventglasstometalcontact,padsshallbeinsertedbetweentheglas

22、s surfacesandthemetalpressurefaces,e.g.plasticorrubbersheets,foldedpaperorcardboardorthebottlecap canbeused. 4Procedure 4.1 Thetemperatureofthesampleshallnotdifferbymorethan5Cfromtheambient. 4.2 Specialcareshallbetakentoensurethattherearenoglassparticlesontheplate.Positionabasepad(3.2) withthetestco

23、ntainerplacedonit,inthecentreofthelowerplate.Thecentrelineofthecontainershallbeinline withthatoftheapparatus. 4.3 Securethecontainerusingtheprotectivecoverandatthesametime,placethecorrespondingclosureon thesealingsurfaceofthecontainerfinish,ifspecifiedforthetest.Thetestcontainershallbecoveredwithapa

24、d similartothebasepadsituatedunderthetestcontainerunlessaclosureisused.Whereeitherpaperoraclosure isused,newupperandlowerpadsshallalwaysbeusedfortestingeachcontainer. NOTE Theuseofthecorrespondingclosuresissuitable,especiallywhenmetalclosureswithasealinglayerareused.In thesecases,screwandbayonetclos

25、uresshouldbelockedmanually. 4.4 Theapproachspeedortheaveragerateofincreaseintheforceshouldbeconstantandshallbereported. 4.5 Thefollowingproceduresarecarriedoutaccordingtothetypeandthepurposeofthetest: a) Passtest Increasetheforceappliedtothespecifiedvalue.Whenthespecifiedvalueisachieved,theplatessha

26、llbe withdrawn.Aftertestingapredeterminednumberofthecontainers,thetestiscomplete.ENISO8113:2004(E) 5 b) Totalprogressivetest Increasetheforceappliedprogressivelyuntilthecontainerbreaks.Thetestshallbeappliedtoall containersinthesample. 5 Safetyrequirements Thistestproceduremaybeinjurioustohealthifade

27、quateprecautionsarenottakenbytheoperator.Testsshould becarriedoutinasafemannerasrecommended. 6 Testreport Thetestreportshallincludethefollowinginformation: a) referencetothisEuropeanStandard, b) descriptionandthecapacityoftheapparatus,andthetestconditionsaccordingto4.2, c) descriptionandthenumberofc

28、ontainersinthesampletestedandthesamplingmethod, d) mentionoftheupperandlowerpadsappliedorclosure,ifused, e) approachspeedortheaveragerateofincreaseintheforce, f) results,accordingtothetypeandthepurposeofthetest: 1) forthepasstest,inaccordancewith4.5a): force achieved (loading) numberofcontainerswhic
