30、ofthehead“. 4Earmuffs 4.1 Specimens,conditioningandschemeoftesting 4.1.1Specimens Headbandearmuffsandhelmetmountedearmuffsshallbesubmittedfortestingintheconditioninwhichtheyare offeredforsale. Forheadbandearmuffs,10specimensshallbesubmittedandtheyshallbenumbered1to10. Forhelmetmountedearmuffs,10basi

31、ccombinationspecimens(earmuffsandhelmets)shallbesubmittedand theyshallbenumbered1to10(basic). Ifthesamemodelofhelmetmountedearmuffsistobetestedwithanothermodelorsizeofhelmet,6further supplementarycombinationspecimens(earmuffsandhelmets)foreachmodelorsizeofhelmetshallbe submitted.Theseshallbenumbered

32、(insets)1to6(supplementary). 4.1.2 Conditioningandtestingatmosphere Allspecimensshallbeconditionedandtestedinanatmospherehavingatemperatureof(225)Candarelative humidityofnotmorethan85%,unlessrequiredotherwisebythetestprocedure. 4.1.3 Schemeoftesting 4.1.3.1The10headbandearmuffsshallbeconditionedandt

33、estedinaccordancewith4.1.3.2to4.1.3.9and Figure1. Forhelmetmountedearmuffs,exceptasspecifiedinthefollowingparagraph,theschemeoftestingforthe10 basiccombinationspecimensand,ifapplicable,thesetsof6supplementarycombinationspecimens,shallbeas givenin4.1.3.2to4.1.3.9andFigure2. 34、seofhelmetssuppliedinmorethanonesize,oneselectedsizeshallbeusedfortestinginabasic combination(exceptforsoundattenuationtesting).Allotherhelmetsizesshallbetestedinasupplementary combination(exceptforsoundattenuationtesting).Soundattenuationtestingshallbeperformedusingthe completerangeofavailablehelme

35、tsizes(seeEN138192).Ifthehelmetmountedearmuffincorporatesameans toadjusttheheadbandforce,theforceshallbeadjustedtoitsminimumsettingforallstagesofconditioningand testing,unlessotherwisespecified. NOTE Testingmaybediscontinuedintheeventofaspecimenfailingtosatisfytherespectiverequirement. 4.1.3.2 Unpac

36、kallearmuffscompletely. 4.1.3.3 Forhelmetmountedearmuffs,eachspecimenshallbeweighedandthemeanmassofthe10specimens shallbereportedtothenearestgram. 4.1.3.4 Inthecaseofhelmetmountedearmuffs,theearmuffsshallbeattachedtothehelmetsinaccordancewith theearmuffsmanufacturersinstructions.Thecups/supportarmss

37、hallbesettothemidpointoftherangeoftheir adjustmentandsetintheposition(inuse,standby,parkingetc)asreceivedfromthemanufacturer. 4.1.3.5 Allspecimensshallbeconditionedfornotlessthan4hintheatmospherespecifiedin4.1.2. 4.1.3.6 Forheadbandearmuffs,eachspecimenshallbeweighedandthemeanmassofthe10specimenssha

38、ll bereportedtothenearestgram. 4.1.3.7 Theschemeoftestingforspecimens1to6(headbandearmuffsandhelmetmountedearmuffs,basicand supplementarysets)shallbeasfollows: a) Testeachspecimeninaccordancewith4.2,4.3,4.4and4.5; b) Testeachspecimeninaccordancewith4.6,unless(optional)4.7istobeperformed; c) Optional
