This Commercial Item Description covers a

2、portable, floor standing operating and examining light, capable of accommodating a standard incandescent lamp bulb. Salient Characteristics: The floor light shall be a portable operating and examination light, capable of accommodating an incandescent lamp bulb of sufficient wattage to provide adequa

3、te illumination without overheating the reflector, and suitable for use in hospital clinics. The light shall consist of a floor lamp with weighted base, upright housing, telescopic rod operating within the housing, a flexible arm and socket, and a reflector which is designed to allow air to flow for

4、 venting purposes. The base of the light shall be between 10 and 11-1/2 inches in diameter and shall be finished so as to permit the light to rest on a flat surface without wobbling or tilting. The base shall be of sufficient weight (8 pounds minimum) to provide stability when telescopic rod is full

5、y extended. The base shall be made of pressed steel or it shall be made of cast iron or lead with a sheet metal or heavy-duty plastic cover. The upright housing shall be not less than 7/8 inch in diameter and the telescoping tubing not less than 5/8 inch in diameter, and shall be brass or electric w

7、y locate the lamp head at any desired height by means of a friction type mechanism. The friction type mechanism shall not have manually operated thumb screws that may easily become lost. The telescoping rod shall permit height adjustments of the lamp head as measured from the floor to the top of the

8、 telescoping rod of approximately 35 to 54 inches. The flexible arm shall be made of steel tubing, and be of conventional design, approximately 14 inches long and 5/8 inch in diameter. It shall be properly bushed to receive the electric cord. The lamp switch shall. be single-pole with non-metallic c

9、ontrol and casing, and shall be of the key, turn-knob, or push button type. The lamp socket shall be rated at 250 watts, 250 volts with a brass exterior. It shall be securely fastened to the upper end of the flexible arm or within the reflector. The reflector shall be designed to allow air to flow t

10、hrough for venting purposes and made of steel, aluminum, or a suitable heavy duty plastic. The reflector outer surface shall not exceed 122 degrees F at any point during operation. The reflector shall be connected to the flexible arm in such a manner to allow adjustment of the light head to any desi

11、red direction. The lamp shall be rated for 80 footcandles at 24 inches using a 60 watt standard bulb. The lamp shall be an Underwriters Laboratory listed portable lamp meeting UL Standard #153 and shall bear the UL label. The floor light shall have a 3 x 18 AWG, 60 degree Celsius rated, strain and p

12、ullback relieved cord fitted with a hospital grade plug. Minimum length of cord shall be 9 feet. A name plate shall be securely and firmly attached to the lamp and shall bear the name or registered trade-mark of the manufacturer. The marking shall be clear, distinct, legible, and of a permanent natu

13、re. All exterior metal surfaces shall have a plated, enameled, painted, varnished, lacquered, zinc or cadium coated finish. Workmanship. Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is

15、 responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by t

16、he Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. Records. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contrac

17、tor shall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Government upon the Governments request, at any time, or from time to time, during the performance of the contract and for a period of three years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate. Inspection. Inspection,

18、as used herein, is defined as both examination (such as visual or auditory investigation without the use of special laboratory appliances or procedures) and testing (determination by technical means of physical and chemical properties) of the item. Samplinq for examination. Sampling for examination

19、shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105, with an AQL of 2.5 (percent defective) and an inspection level of II. The unit of product for examination purposes shall be one floor light. Samplinq for tests. Sampling for tests, including dimensional test, shall be conducted in accordance with MI

20、L-STD-105, with an AQL of 1.0 (percent defective) and an inspection level of S-2. The unit of product for test purposes shall be one floor light. Tests. Tests shall be conducted to determine compliance with specification requirements. Where feasible, the same sample shall be used for the determinati

21、on of two or more test characteristics. Each light shall be operated in

22、 accordance with manufacturers instructions to determine compliance with requirements herein. Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimens,ons will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerances specified using con

23、version tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376, and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch/pound units, a request shouldbe made to the contracting off

24、icer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product. Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item

25、 Description, and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions o

26、f the contract. Requlatory requirements. Federal Food, Druq and Cosmetic Act. If the product covered by this document has been determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to be under its jurisdiction, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractor

27、s/suppliers, with the requirements of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, as amended, and regulations promulgated thereunder. In addition, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractors/suppliers, with the requirements of all other applicable Federa

28、l, State, and local statutes, ordinances, and regulations. Recovered materials.
