SCOPE 1.1 PurDoses. The purposes

8、of this standard are to: a. Improve the fit of garments selected by women on the basis -of labeled sizing information by providing actual body measurement information on the label. b. Achieve DOD standardization with regard to size designations of womens uniform clothing. 1.2 ApDlication. This stand

9、ard describes the information to be used in the size labels of uniform coats, skirts, and slacks for women in the Department of Defense (DOD). The information standardizes only the size designation and the body measurements associated with each size. Differences between the services in the body size

10、 of their populations, uniform styles, and concept of fit would be dealt with by other factors such as design, ease, and tariffs (the number of each size to buy). d 2. 18、s applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. DEFINITIONS 3.1 Definitions. The terms in this standard are defined as follows: a. Bust circumference. The horizontal circumference of the bust measured with a tape passing over bra points. b. Heiqht. The vertical di

19、stance from the floor to the top of the head, without shoes. c. Hip Circumference. The maximum circumference of the d. - “JI1. The letter J folloving a numerical size, as in 8J, hips. stands for Junior, and designates a size proportioned to fit a narrow-hipped female. w. The letter M following a num

20、erical size as in 6M, stands for Misses. e. f. T. The letter W following a numerical size, as in 14W, stands for Womens, and designates a size proportioned to fit a larger-hipped female. g. The dimensions listed in Tables I and II were derived from data obtained from NCTRF No. 182, NCTRF No. 183, AMRL-TR-70-5 and Natick/TR-89-044. 4.2 Dimensional desisnations. The dimensions

22、used to designate sizes in each garment shall be as follows: Womens coat - Bust circumference - Hip circumference - Height Womens slacks and skirts - Hip circumference - Waist circumference - Height The dimensions used for the size designation stated in.#Tables I, II, III and IV are designated in in

23、ches numerically and represents the body measurements and not the garment measurements. The circumference measurements shall be stated in single figures (e.g., bust circumference - 33-1/2“) and the height shall be stated in a range (e.g., 63-1/2“ - 67“). 5. DETAILED REQUIREMENTS 5.1 Labeling 5.1.1 S

24、ize desisnation. The size designation of each garment shall be indicated clearly, conspicuously, and in plainly legible form on a label, or on a sewing .label, or both. Pictograms (see Figures 1 and 2), if used, shall be large enough to ensure immediate comprehension and numerals shall, in all cases

25、, be readily discernible. The label shall be in accordance with IS0 3637. 5.1.1.1 Sizes. The sizes used in the labels shall be selected from those in Tables I, II, III and IV. All the sizes which appear in these tables need not be used. Size information should be tailored to satisfy individual needs

26、. However, for a given size, the numbers taken from Table I shall be selected from a single row. Information a

27、dditional to the size designation may be separately indicated on the label, or on the sewing label, or on both, provided that it does not in any way reduce the prominence and conspicuousness of the size designation. Such additional information may include a size code (see Figures 1 and 2) which may

28、be useful in helping users accustomed to such designations select the size of best fit during a period of transition to a labeling system based exclusively on body dimensions. 5.1.3 Examples of labels. Examples of labels appear in Figures 1 and 2. 6. NOTES (This section contains information of a gen
