SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers an emp

2、ty case fabricated of nylon cloth. The case contains three compartments , each fitted with a slide fastener closure, and intended to hold an assortment of items of medical materiel. The case shall consist of two small compartments, one large compartment, a pocket, a hood, a closing strap complete with buckle and quick release device, and a detachable carrying s

13、trap. Except where otherwise specified, materials shall con- form to the applicable portion

14、s of the specifications, standards, and drawing specified herein, and as described in 3.3 and shall be capable of meeting the requirements specified therein. In addition, the metals shall conform to the chemical requirements of their applicable specifications when tested as specified in section 4. W

15、hen materials to be used are not specifically designated, those used shall be of the highest commercial quality, and entirely suitable for the purpose intended. 3.2.1 Cloth, nylon. The nylon cloth shall be olive green No. 106, water repellent, conforming to MIL-C-43128. 3.2.2 Webbing. 3.2.2.1 Webbin

16、g, nylon. The 3/4-inch nylon webbing shall conform to type Ia of MIL-W-4088. 4088. The 1-inch nylon webbing shall conform to type II of MIL-W- 3.2.2.1.1 Color and finish. The nylon webbing shall be dyed olive drab number 7 to match the standard shade, and shall be resin impregnated conforming to cla

17、ss R of MIL-W-27265. The resin impregnated webbing shall conform to the applicable requirements of MIL-W-27265. 3.2.2.2 Webbing, cotton. The 2-inch wide cotton webbing for the carrying strap shall conform to the requirements of MIL-W-530, type II, class 4, and shall be vat dyed olive drab No. 7. 3.2

18、.3 Tape, nylon, The nylon binding tape shall be OG-106 conroming to type III, 314-inch of MIL-T-5038. 3.2.4 Thread polyester. The thread for all stitching shall conform to type I, class I, sub-class B, Size F, of V-T-285. The thread shall be dyed olive drab shade S-1, C.I. 66022, except the colorfas

19、tness requirements and test methods shall be limited to weathering only. 3.2.5 Polypropylene. The stiffener for the quick release strap shall be made from sheet stock virgin polypropylene material of natural color meeting require- ments of type I of L-P-394. The sheet stock shall be 0.040 i 0.005 in

20、ch thick. The plastic stiffener pieces fabricated from the sheet stock shall be produced in such a manner that the long edges of the pieces shall have been parallel with the direction of extrusion (the long edges) of the roll of material from which they are fabricated. The finished pieces shall be u

22、conform to type V, class 3 of NIL-B-543. 3.2.7 “D“ rings. The ID“ (DEE) rings shall be symbol A, class 1, 25/32 inch by 3/8 inch, black chemical finish, of MIL-R-3390. 3.2.8 Fastener, loop. The fastener loop used for the quick release device shall be type III of MIL-H-9890. 3.2.9 Fasteners, snap. Th

23、e snap fastener on the quick release assembly shall be style 2A, finish 2, black, of MIL-F-10884. 3.2.10 Rivets. The rivets on the fastener loop shall be type XII, tu- bular, class 3, oval head, grade F, brass 9/64-inch nominal size, conforming to FF-R-556. The rivets shall be given a black chemical

24、 finish. The length shall be such as to effect a secure clinch. 3.2.11 Burrs. The burrs on the fastener loop shall be brass, size No. 9, O Es-51936. 3.2.12 Fasteners, slide. Except as specified herein, the slide fasteners shall conform to V-F-106, type I, style 18, size M, two slider, with short tab

25、 pulls fitted with webbing thongs. The metal parts shall be brass with a black chemical finish conforming to MIL-F-495. 3.2.12.1 Tape, The slide fastener tapes shall be vat dyed olive drab shade S, conforming to U.S. Army Color Card of Standard Shades for Slide Fastener Tapes, and shall be water rep

26、ellent and mildew resistant, in accordance with V-F-106. only. Mildew resistance shall be obtained by using copper-8-quinolinolate 3.2.12.1.1 Water repellence. resistance as specified in V-F-106. The finished tape shall be tested for water 3.2.12.2 Salt spray resistance. The slide fasteners shall me

27、et the salt spray resistance requirements specified in V-F-106. 3.2.12.3 Webbing for thongs. Webbing for thongs shall conform to the requirements of V-F-106 for thongs (cotton webbing) except that mildew resistance shall be obtained by using copper-8-quinolinolate only, and the finished 1engt.h of t

28、he thong after assembly to the pull shall be 3-1/2 + 1/2 inch. - 3.2.13 Loops, slide. Slide loops shall conform to MIL-L-3851 .and khall be class 1, style 2, 2 inches. 5 /- . 30、able carrying strap) shall conform to the requirements specified herein and to those shown on Defense Personnel Support Center Drawing 20774. 3.3.1 Stitching, machine. All stitching shall conform to FED- cm1751 as follows: For all stitching except overed.ge stitching; type 301, 8 to 10 stitches per

31、inch. For overedge stitching (single operation optional) ; type 503 or 504, 8 to 10 stitches per inch. For closing seams and overedge stitching (simultaneous operation optional); type 301 in combination with 503, 504 or 502, 8 to 10 stitches per inch. All edges of closing seams shall be overstitched

32、. rication of the thread by any means, prior to or during sewing. Any of the operations requiring box, box with cross stitch, iJ stitching, straight line tacking or any other design of stitching cited in this specification may be performed with an automatic stitching machine provided the requirement

33、s for stitch pattern, stitches per inch, size, and types, of thread are met; and at least three or more tying, overlapping, or back stitches are used to secure the ends of stitching. There shall be no lub- 3.3.1.1 Type 301 stitching. Thread breaks in stitching shall be over- stitched not less than 1

34、 inch at each break. Stitching shall be backstitched not less than 1 inch at the ends, except where ends are turned under in a hem or held down by other stitching. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there will be no loose stitching, and the lock will be imbedded in the materials sewed. 6 . i

Thread breaks in overedge stitching shall be overstitched not less than 3f4 inch at each break. Thread tension shall be maint

36、ained so that there will be no loose stitching. 3.3.2 Setting of snap fasteners. The hole punched before insertion of the male or female part of the fastener shall be smaller than the outside diameter of the fastener tube so that the tube shall be forced through the hole. The fasteners shall be secu

37、rely clinched. 3.3.3 Setting of rivets. All holes in fabric shall be pre-punched before in- ser.tion of the rivets. When installed, the clinched end of the rivet shall be reasonably free of cracks or burrs, and shall have a uniform roll that will effect a secure hold. 3.3.4 Fusing of nylon webbing.

38、All ends of nylon webbing shall be fused after cutting, including bias cuts. 3.4 Marking for identification. Each case (including carrying strap) shall be legibly and permanently marked with black waterproof ink or paint in accordance with the drawing 3.5 Uorkmanship. Workmanship shall be first clas

39、s throughout. Complete cases (including carrying straps) shall be well made and free from defects which detract from their appearance or may impair their serviceability. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the con- tract or purchase order,

40、 the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the supplier may use his otm or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disap

41、proved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such in- spections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to pre- scribed requirements. 4.1.1 Records. Records of examinations and tests performed

42、by or for the contractor shall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Govern- ment, upon the Governments request, at any time, or from time to time, during the performance of the contract and for a period of three years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate.

Inspection, as used in this specification, is defined as both examination (such as visual or auditory investigation without the use of special laboratory appliances or

44、procedures) and testing (determination by technical means of physical and chemical properties) of the item. 4.1.3 Certificates of quality. Certificates of quality, supplied by the manufacturer of the cloth, fasteners, hardware, tape, and webbing, may be fur- nished in lieu of actual p;rformance of s

45、uch testing by the contractor, provided lot identity has been maintained and can be demonstrated to the Government. The certificate shall include the name of the contractor, the contract number, the nam.e of the manufacturer or supplier, the FSN, the item identification, the name OE the component/ma

46、terial, the lot number, the lot size, the sample size, the date .Of testing, the test method, individual test results, and the specification requirement c , 4.2 Quality conformance inspection. The examinations and tests required to assure conformance of those items or lots of items to be offered for

47、 acceptance are classified as specified in tables I and II (see 4.2.1 and 4.2.2) and 4.2.3. 4.2.1 Sampling for examination. 4.2.1.1 Sampling for visual defects. Sampling for visual defects shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105. The inspection levels and acceptable quality levels shall be

The sample unit for this examination shall be one completely fabricated case.
