2、eral agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) establishes the government acquisition requirements for a blue layout fluid (dye) used to coat metal and glass surfaces for scribing or marking purposes. 2. Types. CLASSIFICATION. The blue layout fluid shall be classified into three pro

3、ducts container Type 1 Aerosol container Type 2 Applicator-in-cap container Type 3 Screw-top container 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 3.1.1 Materials 3.1.2 solvents, film former, and blue dye with a sweet solvent odor. The mixture shall be free of sediments and suspended particles that can be detected b

4、y visual examination. 3.1.3 isobutane. Comoosition. The blue layout fluid shall be a uniform mixture of suitable organic Prooellant. 7、6 tested in accordance with ASTM D 56. For Type 1 products, this requirement shall be verified on the bulk layout fluid prior to aerosol packaging. 3.1.7 Viscositv. The layout fluid shall have a maximum efflux time of 32 seconds when tested using Gardco Zahn Signature Series viscosity cup No. 1. The

8、 manufacturers instructions for the use and care of the Zahn cup shall be followed. 3.1.8 surface in accordance with ASTM D 823 (Practice E) shall have the following properties: 3.1.8.1 coating will not visibly rub off on finger by light rubbing. 3.1.8.2 color. Flash uoint. The layout fluid shall ha

9、ve a minimum flash point of 53 OF (1 1.7 OC) when Dry film. A layer of layout fluid applied onto a dry, smooth, and flat ferrous metal Drying time. The film shall air-dry within no more than five minutes such that the Auuearance. The dry film shall be visually non-glaring with a uniform finish and 3

10、.1.8.3 when measured in accordance with ASTM D 1 186. 3.1.8.4 with ASTM D 3359 (Test Method B) shall have a classification rating of 5. 3.1.9 away with synthetic coolants, chlorinated solvents, oils, cutting oils, or water.
