3、OLE, THREE-WIRE HOSPITAL GRADE, 20-AMPERE The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers the general requirements for a 20-ampere hospital grade ground fault interrupter.

4、 Ground fault interrupters covered by this CID are intended for commercial/industrial applications. 2. CLASSIFICATION/PART OR IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (PIN). This CID uses a classification system that is included in the PIN as shown in the following example (see 7.1). AA55461 - S B I CID number Termina

Blank for no indicator light. 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. 3.1 Interface and physical dimensions. Ground fault interrupters supplied

6、 to this CID shall be as specified herein and shall meet the requirements of UL 943 for class A ground fault interrupters and the hospital grade requirements as called out in UL 498 (see figure 1). 3.2. Ampere rating. The ampere rating shall be 20 amperes maximum. 3.3 Voltage rating. The voltage rat

7、ing shall be 125 V ac maximum. 3.4 Frequency rating. The frequency rating shall be 60 Hz. 3.5 Trip threshold. Dimensions shall conform to NEMA standard WD 6 (reference NEMA configuration 5-20R) (see figure 1). 3.7 Termination style. The termination style shall be eith

10、er screw terminals or wire leads. 3.8 Wire size. The maximum wire size the screw terminal connectors shall accept is number 10 American Wire Gauge (AWG). The minimum wire size of the wire shall be number 14 AWG. 3.9 Wire lead length. The free length of the wire leads shall be 4 inches (101.6 millime

11、ters) minimum. The free length of the ground lead shall be 6 inches (152.4 millimeters) minimum. 3.10 Indicator light. If a yellow indicator light is provided, when lighted it shall indicate the “tripped” condition of the circuit interrupter; when unlighted it shall indicate power availability to th

12、e receptacle. 3.11 Marking. Ground fault interrupters or their unit package supplied to this CID shall be marked with the manufacturers (MFRs) standard commercial PIN and the ground fault interrupters shall bear the appropriate UL listing mark. (NOTE: The part number marked on the unit pack shall be

13、 the CID PIN.) 3.12 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economic

14、ally advantageous life cycle costs. 3.13 Workmanship. Ground fault interrupters shall be processed in such a manner as to be uniform in quality and shall be free from other defects that will affect life, serviceability, or appearance. 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged

15、to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 5. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS. 5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this CID, conform to the producers own draw

16、ings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Market acceptance. The following market acceptance criteria are necessary to document the q

17、uality of the product to be provided under this CID: a. The company producing the item must have been producing a product meeting the requirements of this CID for at least 2 years. b. The company must have sold 1,000 units meeting this CID in the commercial marketplace over the past 2 years. 6. PACK

18、AGING. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order. 7. NOTES. 7.1 PIN. The PIN should be used for Government purposes to buy commercial products to this CID. See section 2 for PIN format example. 7.2 Environmentally preferable material. Environmentally preferabl

19、e materials should be used to the maximum extent possible to meet the requirements of this specification. As of the dating of this document, the U.S. Environmentally Protection Agency (EPA) is focusing efforts on reducing 31 priority chemicals. The list of chemicals is available on their website at

20、http:/www.epa.gov/osw/hazard/wastemin/priority.htm. Use of these materials on the list should be minimized or eliminated unless needed to meet the requirements specified herein (see Section 3).
