Compliance is ac

15、hieved when a performance characteristic is less than or equal to a maximum regulated or rated value, whichever is higher, or greater than or equal to a minimum regulated or rated value, whichever is lower, when the performance characteristic is measured using appropriate statistical means.Discontin

16、uation a model or design has been retired and is no longer being manufactured.Note: Discontinued models can still be available for purchase in the marketplace after the official date of discontinuation.Energy efficiency rating the energy efficiency performance characteristic of a product verified by

17、 the certification body and reported by the manufacturer.Note: For water heaters, the energy efficiency rating is the standby heat loss value or energy factor value. The energy efficiency rating is the value used for listings, product literature, and labels associated with a specific model.Energy fa

18、ctor a measure of the overall efficiency of a water heater, expressed as the ratio of the energy supplied as hot water to the total energy consumption of the water heater over 24 h.Energy performance standard (EPS) a minimum regulated or rated energy factor or a maximum regulated or rated standby he

19、at loss.Lower control limit (LCL) the lowest expected value of the sample mean, based on the hypothesis that the population mean is equal to the energy performance standard.Upper control limit (UCL) the highest expected value of the sample mean, based on the hypothesis that the population mean is eq

20、ual to the energy performance standard.Verification the process of ensuring that a product has the proper energy efficiency rating and complies with the EE Regulations.Water heater a closed vessel in which water is heated to temperatures not exceeding 99 C (210F) by fuel, electricity, or any other s

21、ource and is withdrawn for use external to the vessel. Water heaters include the apparatus by which heat is generated and all controls and devices necessary for controlling water temperature.Gas-fired instantaneous water heater a water heater that uses gas as the energy source and is controlled manu

22、ally or automatically by a water-flow-activated control or a combination of water-flow and thermostatic control.Storage water heater an automatically controlled, thermally insulated vessel designed for heating water to a temperature of less than 82 C (180F). Storage water heaters are further categor

23、ized as follows:Electric storage water heater a water heater that uses electricity to heat water. Electric storage water heaters have a manufacturers specified energy input rating of 12 kW or less at a voltage less than or equal to 250 V and a manufacturers specified storage capacity greater than or

24、 equal to 50 L (11 imperial gal) and less than or equal to 454 L (100 imperial gal).Gas-fired storage water heater a water heater that uses gas to heat water. Gas-fired storage water heaters have a manufacturers specified energy input rating of 21.98 kW (75 000 Btu/h) or less and a manufacturers spe

25、cified storage capacity greater than or equal to 76 L (20 US gal) and less than or equal to 380 L (100 US gal).Oil-fired storage water heater a water heater that uses oil to heat water. Oil-fired storage water heaters have a manufacturers specified energy input rating of 107 000 kJ/h (104 100 Btu/h)

26、 or less and a manufacturers specified storage capacity of 190 L (50 US gal) or less.3(Replaces p. 3, March 2006)PLUS 1200 Canadian Standards AssociationMarch 20084 Test facilitiesCertification bodies are responsible for qualifying manufacturers test facilities as well as independent test facilities

27、.Note: In Canada, this qualification is required by the SCC. See Annex C for information on test facilities.After qualifying a test facility, the certification body must monitor and audit the facility on an ongoing basis to ensure that it continues to be qualified. The test facility of the certifica

28、tion body (the reference test facility) must meet the requirements of SCC CAN-P-4E.5 What is tested and reported5.1 All equipment specified in Clause 1.2 is to be tested, except where a unit is essentially the same as another basic model that has already been tested. All models for sale or lease in

29、Canada must be reported to the AHJ.5.2 The certification body is to receive test results for(a) each new model;(b) an existing model where revisions have been made to any critical design or component known to affect energy consumption; and(c) any revision made to the test methods used to determine e

30、nergy efficiency. Note: These revisions are announced by CSA through a Certification Notice.5.3 Models that share reported test results must use the same parts relating to energy use and heat transfer, and have the same tank capacity, physical dimensions, insulation levels, and components affecting

31、energy use. Models that share test results and energy efficiency ratings must be adequately represented by the tested model such that testing of any of the represented models would yield the same result.6 Sample size6.1 Establishing an initial ratingTo establish an initial rating, a minimum of two u

32、nits that are representative of production are to be tested. A larger number of units, up to a maximum of 20, may be tested to confirm that the basic model is in compliance with the EE Regulations and that the reported rating is correct.6.2 Audit testingSix units are to be randomly selected from one

33、 production run. From these six units, two are selected by an auditor from the certification body.6.3 Challenge testingThe manufacturer must provide and sequester 20 units of the model in question by the end of the fifth business day following notification. At that time, an auditor from the certific

34、ation body will arrive at the manufacturers facility and randomly select 4 of the 20 units. If the units are not provided by the fifth business day, they will be purchased by the certification body at the expense of the manufacturer. The sample units must have been manufactured within 90 d prior to

35、the date of notification to the manufacturer. In the event that the manufacturer does not have enough units in stock, no units are commercially available, or those units that are available were made more than 90 d prior to the date of notification, the manufacturer must build units for the challenge
