CGSB is engaged in the production of vol

3、untary standards in a wide range of subject areas through the media of standards committees and the consensus process. The standards committees are composed of representatives of relevant interests including producers, consumers and other users, retailers, governments, educational institutions, tech

4、nical, professional and trade societies, and research and testing organizations. Any given standard is developed on the consensus of views expressed by such representatives. The Ministers Advisory Council on CGSB reviews the results of the consensus process. CGSB has been accredited by the Standards

5、 Council of Canada as a national standards-writing organization. The standards that it develops and offers as National Standards of Canada conform to the criteria and procedures established for this purpose by the Standards Council of Canada. In addition to standards it publishes as national standar

6、ds, CGSB produces standards to meet particular needs, in response to requests from a variety of sources in both the public and private sectors. Both CGSB standards and national standards developed by CGSB are developed in conformance with the policies described in the Policy Manual for the Developme

7、nt and Maintenance of Standards by CGSB. CGSB standards are subject to review and revision at any time, so as to ensure that they keep abreast of technological progress. Suggestions for their improvement, which are always welcome, should be brought to the notice of the standards committees concerned

SCOPE 1.1 This standard applies to No. 1 opaque litho book paper, used for face and back offset litho printing of books, magazines, periodicals, pamphlets, etc. Printed matter may include text, line illustrations and 150 lineskm halftones in multicolours. A standard for permanence of

30、 paper is in the course of preparation. I 1.2 The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials andfor equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this standard

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Curl - The paper shall lie flat, or have no more than a slight curl that can be overcome under nor

35、mal commercial operating conditions. 3.2 Surface Condition - The paper surface shall be free from blemishes, dust, lint and other particles that may adversely affect its printing or end use. 3.3 3.4 Formation - The formation of the paper shall be close and even. Trim (sheets) - The paper shall be tr

36、immed with clean, smooth edges and shall be evenly jogged. Splices in Rolls - Spce(s) must be flagged with a bright

38、 coloured tag on the edge of the roll, or identified on the end of the roll by means of a stencil or other readily visible mark. The maximum number of splices per roll shall be as follows: Roll Diameter No. of Splices Up to 762 mm 1 From 763 to 1219 mm 2 Over 1220 mm 3 Splices shall not be less than

39、 152 mm from the core, not less than 40 mm from the outside diameter and at least 76 mm between splices, or as specified by the purchaser (par. 8.1). Stock - The paper stock shall normally be free from more iban trace amounts (less than 1%) of unbleached or mechanical pulps, except that no limitatio

40、n is imposed on the amount of deinked or nondeinked, bleached secondary (recycled) fibre, nor on the amount of high-yield pulps, present in the stock. Fluorescent (optical) brighteners may be present. Moisture Content - This paper may be used either in air-conditioned pressrooms or in pressrooms lac

41、king relative humidity and temperature controls. Unless otherwise specified (par. 8.1), paper at time of delivery shall be in equilibrium with a relative humidity of 40 f 5% and a temperature of 23 f 0.5”C if used in air-conditioned pressrooms. If specified “for use in non-air-conditioned pressrooms

42、” ar. 8. i), the paper at time of delivery shall be in suitable equilibrium with seasonally prevailing relative humidity and temperature conditions. DETAILED REQUIREMENTS Size (sheets) - The paper shall be furnished in the sheet sizes specified (par. 8.1). For sheet sizes up to and including 216 x 3

43、56 mm, the paper sha not be undersize, and not more than 0.8 mm oversize in either direction. For sheet sizes larger than 216 x 356 mm, the paper shall not be undersize, and not more than 2.4 mm oversize in either directions. Successive sheets within any package shall not differ from one another by

44、more than 0.8 mm. Sheets shall be square on all four sides within a tolerance of 0.8 mm in each 762 mm as determined on a squaring table. The edge bow in individual sheets shall not be more than 0.8 mm in each 762 mm, as determined by turning a sheet over, butting an edge against the corresponding e

45、dge of the sheet below, measuring the gap between them, and taking half of this measurement. Size (roils) - The rolls shall be as specified (par. 8.1) in width with a tolerance of 0.8 mm. Diameters shall be as specified I13 mm. Roll diameters may be less if the specified diameter can only be obtaine

46、d by splicing within 76 mm of the outside diameter of the roll. Cores (rolis) - The paper shall be wound on a 76 mm inside diameter non-retumable core, or as specified by the customer. Cores shall be of fibrous material, and shall have a wooden, plastic or metai bung at each end. Grammage - The pape

47、r shall be supplied in the grammage listed in Table 1, with a tolerance of f5%, when determined in accordance with CANKGSB-9.0 No.7. Thickness - The paper shall conform to the average thickness in Table 1, with a tolerance of 0.005 mm. The difference in average thicknesses between sheets shall not e

48、xceed 0.005 mm. Individual sheets shall be uniform in thickness and the difference between the highest and lowest thickness across each sheet shall not exceed 0.008 mm. Grain Direction (sheets) - The grain direction, when determined in accordance with Technical Section, CPPA standard D.l, shall be a

49、s specified (par. 8.1). Colour - The paper shall be white or coloured as Specified (par. 8.1). The colour and brightness of the paper shall match the supplied reference in accordance with commercial colour matching practice. Hydrogen Ion Concentration (pH) - The pH value of the cold extract of the paper shall not be less than 4.8 when determined in accordance with Technical Section, CPPA standard G.25P.
