22、 Preparationoftestpieces Thebondingsurfacesofthesteeladherentsshallbedegreasedusingasuitabledegreasingagentandthen gritblastedtogradeSA21/2ofENISO85011:2001.Thesteelsurfaceshallthenbevacuumedtoremove anydustandPVCtapeappliedtothefourbuttingsurfacesoftheadherentsinordertopreventanytensile bonding.Wit

23、hin24h,mixtheadhesiveinaccordancewiththemanufacturersinstructionsandapplytoeach ofthepreparedbondingsurfacessuchthatwhentheyarebroughttogetheragluelinethicknessof(1,0 0,1) mmisachieved. 5.2 Numberoftestspecimens Thethickadherentsheartestspecimensaretobetestedinpairs,usingaloadingplateasshowninfigure

Threepairsofthickadherentsheartestspecimensaretobecuredunderdynamicload,andafurtherthree pairsofthickadherentsheartestspecimens,actingascontrols,aretobecuredwhilststationary.EN138941:2003(E) 5 5.3Testing Aftertheadhesivehasbeenappliedtothebondingsurfacesoftheadherentstheyshallimmediatelybebolted

25、securelytotheloadingplateasshowninfigure2.Theloadingplateisthencycledbetweenstrainsof 20 m/mand170 m/matafrequencyof(2 0,1)Hzusingasinewavefunctioncommencing20minafter completionofmixingoftheadhesiveandcontinuedfor48hours,whilsttheadhesivecures.Followinga furtherfivedaysofcuringwhilststationary,thet

26、hickadherentsheartestspecimensshallberemovedfromthe loadingplateandthentestedintensionatarateof1mm/mintodeterminethefailureloadreadingto0,1kNof eachjoint.Thecontrolspecimensaretobecuredstationaryintheloadingplateatzerostrainforsevendays priortotestingintension.Allcuringandtestingistobeconductedat(21

27、 2)C,carebeingtakentoensure thatthedynamicloadingapparatusdoesnotraisethetemperatureabovethislimit. 5.4 Failuremode Recordthefailuremodeforeachspecimenasoneofthefollowingtwotypes: TypeA:cohesionfailurewithintheadhesive; TypeB:adhesionfailureatoneoftheinterfaces. Ifthereisamixofthesefailuremodesmakea
