31、eltofallfromanuppertoalowermarkisrecorded. 6Apparatus 6.1Outflowmeter 6.1.1 Descriptionoftheoutflowmeter Theoutflowmeterconsistsofacylinderofasolidtransparentplasticheight(4001)mm,internaldiameter (500,5)mm,whichisgluedtoabrassweightingring(seeFigure1).Abrasscarrierringwithaprecisionrubber ringbonde

32、dtoit(seeFigure2)shallbescrewedtotheundersideoftheweightingring.Thetotalmassofthe outflowmetershallbe(3 500 10) g.Themassofthecarrierringshallbe(138 3) g.Therubberringis vulcanisedontothecarrierring.Thepropertyofthevulcanisedrubberringshallbeasfollows: hardness481,ShoreA,inaccordancewithISO868. Thec

33、arrierringshallcarrythemarkofthemanufacturertogetherwithaserialnumberandtheexpirydate(month, year)(seeFigure2). Acarryingboxwithholdingdevicesshallbeusedforthetransportandstorageoftheapparatuswithoutdamage. Theholdingdevicesshallsecurethat: thecylinderoftheapparatusisnotincontactwiththeinnersurfaceo

36、fromdirt,oilandgrease.Duringlongerintervalsbetween testprogrammes,theoutflowmetershallbeprotectedagainstlightandairbystoringitinitscarryingboxata temperatureof(205)C. 6.1.3 Preparingtheoutflowmeterfortesting Beforeeachtesttherubberringonthecarrierringshallbecheckedforanyincisions,cracks,surfacedamag

37、eor warpageandthatitisclean.Ifdamaged,thecarrierringshallbereplacedbeforetesting. Thelocationofthesampleshallbeselectedsothatitisahomogeneousareathatcontainsnouniquelocalized featuressuchascracksandjointsandrepresentativeonthesite.Thenumberofsamplesnecessarytoobtainthe horizontaldrainabilityofanareashallbedependantuponvariabilityofthesurface.Asampleplanshallbe preparedtodetailwheretestsshouldbecarriedoutandlocationswheretestshavebeencarriedoutshallbe recorded.
