22、hisspecifiedinthisEuropeanStandardisanimportant factorwhendeterminingwhetheracylindershouldbereturnedintoservice.EN1802:2002(E) 5 1Scope ThisEuropeanStandardspecifiestherequirementsforperiodicinspectionandtestingofseamlessaluminiumalloy transportablegascylinders(singleorthosefrombundles)intendedforc

23、ompressedandliquefiedgasesunder pressure,ofwatercapacityfrom0,5lupto150l. NOTEAsfaraspracticable,thisstandardmayalsobeappliedtocylindersoflessthan0,5lwatercapacity. Thisstandardspecifiestherequirementsforperiodicinspectionandtestingtoverifytheintegrityofsuchgascylinders tobereintroducedintoservicefo

Providedthecylinderhasbeensubjectedtonormalconditionsofuseandhasnotbeensubjectedtoabusiveand abnormalconditi

33、onsrenderingthecylinderunsafe,thereisnogeneralrequirementfortheusertoreturnagas cylinderbeforethecontentshavebeenusedeventhoughthetestintervalmayhavelapsed.Howeveritis suggestedthatcylindersareretestedwithinaperiodnotexceedingtwicethetimeinterval. Inthecaseofcylindersusedforemergencypurposes(e.g.fir

34、eextinguishers,breathingapparatus),itisthe responsibilityofthepersoninpossession(owneroruser)tosubmititforaperiodicinspectionwithintheinterval specifiedinannexBorasspecifiedintherelevantcylinderdesignstandard/regulation,ifthisisshorter. 4 Listofproceduresforperiodicinspectionandtest Theinspectionand

35、testshallbecarriedoutonlybycompetentpersonswhoshallensurethatthecylindersarefit forcontinuedsafeuse. NOTE Acompetentpersonisapersonwhohasthenecessarytechnicalknowledge,experienceandauthoritytoassess andapprovematerialsforusewithgasesandtodefineanyspecialconditionsofusethatarenecessary.Suchapersonwil

Eachcylindershallbesubmittedtoperiodicinspectionandtest.Thefollowingproceduresformtherequirements forsuchinspectionandtest,andareexplainedmorefullyinlaterclauses: identificationofcylinderandpreparationforinspectionandtest(clause5)

37、; externalvisualinspection(clause6); internalvisualinspection(clause7); supplementarytests(clause8); inspectionofcylinderneck/shoulder(clause9); pressuretestorultrasonictest(clause10); inspectionofvalve(clause11); finaloperations(clause12); rejectionandrenderingcylindersunserviceable(clause13). Wher

38、ecylindersaremanufacturedaccordingtoNationalRegulationsandareintendedtobequalifiedunderthe TransportablePressureEquipmentDirective(TPED)forfreemovementandusebetweenmemberstatesofthe EuropeanUnion,additionalrequirementsarespecifiedinannexA. Itisrecommendedthattheabovelistedtestsareperformedinthesugge

39、stedsequence.Inparticulartheinternal visualexamination(clause7)shouldbecarriedoutbeforethepressuretestorultrasonictest(clause10). Cylinderswhichfailtheinspectionortestsshallberejected(seeclause13).When,aftertheabovetests,doubts stillexistastotheextentofadefectortheconditionofacylinder,thenadditional

40、testsmaybeperformedin accordancewithclause8,untilsuchdoubtsarepositivelyresolvedorthecylindershallberenderedunserviceable. SomecylindersrejectedduringperiodicinspectionandtestmayberecoveredinaccordancewithannexC.EN1802:2002(E) 7 Mechanicalpropertiesofaluminiumalloycylinderscanbeaffectedbyheat.Theref

41、ore,themaximumtemperature foranyoperationshallbelimited.(See12.1.2.) 5 Identificationofcylinderandpreparationforinspectionandtest Beforeanyworkiscarriedout,therelevantcylinderdata(e.g.seeEN10891)anditscontentsandownershipshall beidentified. Thecylindersshallbedepressurisedandemptiedinasafe,controlle

42、dmannerbeforeproceeding.Particular attentionshallbegiventocylinderscontainingflammable,oxidisingandtoxicgasestoeliminaterisksattheinternal inspectionstage. Cylinderswithincorrectmarkings,unknowngascontents,orthosewhichcannotbesafelyemptiedofgas,shallbe setasideforspecialhandling. Cylinderswithinoper

43、ativeorblockedvalvesmaybetreatedasoutlinedinannexD.Providedtherequirements abovehavebeencompliedwith,andthecylinderhasbeendepressurizedsafely,thevalveshallberemoved. Similarlyinthecaseofcylinderbundles,notequippedwithcylindervalves,theconnectingteejunctionshallalsobe checkedtodeterminewhetherthegasisabletopassfreelyfromthecylindertoatmosphere. 6 Externalvisualinspection 6.1Preparationforexternalvisualinspection Eachcylindershallbecleanedandhaveallloosecoatings,corrosionproducts,tar,oilorotherforeignmatter removedfromitsexternalsurfacebyasuitablemethod,e.g.bybrus
