In order to carry out the tests in Annex
9、B and Annex E in this British Standard it is necessary to establish whether, and to what extent, the paint as supplied needs to be thinned and/or stirred before use and the recommended coverage. Guidance on the use of materials in this specification is given in BS6150. Product certification. Users o
10、f this British Standard are advised to consider the desirability of third party certification of product conformity with this BritishStandard based on testing and continuing product surveillance which may be coupled with assessment of a suppliers quality systems against the appropriate Part of BS575
11、0. Enquiries as to the availability of third party certification schemes are forwarded by BSI to the Association of Certification Bodies. If a third party certification scheme does not already exist, users should consider approaching an appropriate body from the list of Association members. A Britis

14、his British Standard specifies performance requirements and appropriate methods of test for water-borne emulsion paints for interior use applied by brush, roller or spray techniques. It covers matt and mid-sheen emulsion paints which can be applied to non-metallic substrates, classified into three t
15、ypes covering different circumstances where the paint may be applied. It also specifies requirements for the marking of containers which may be of a range of nominal capacities. 2 References 2.1 Normative references This British Standard incorporates, by reference, provisions from specific editions

18、 3 Definitions For the purposes of this British Standard the definitions given in BS 2015:1992 apply. 4 Classification Emulsion paints conforming to this British Standard shall be classified into three types, as given in Table 1. 5 Sampling For the purposes of the tests referred to in clause8, a rep
19、resentative sample of the paint, measuring not less than 5l, shall be taken and packed by the method described in BS 3900-A1:1992. A container of non-corrodible material shall be used. 6 Keeping properties The paint, when stored in its original containers at a temperature between 5C and 35C for 18mo
20、nths from the date of manufacture shall conform to clause8. 7 Consistency The emulsion paint shall be of a consistency that is suitable for application by brush, roller or spray technique, as applicable, after thinning and stirring if necessary, in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations.
21、8 Performance 8.1 Drying time The paint shall be applied to a clean glass test panel conforming to BS EN 605:1992, at a wet film thickness of (55 5) m and allowed to dry with free access of air at a temperature of (23 2) C and a relative humidity of (50 5)% and then tested by the method described in
22、 BSEN29117:1992. The paint film shall be hard-dry in not more than 2h. 8.2 Low temperature film formation When tested in accordance with Annex A the paint film shall show no visible cracking (when viewed under 10 magnification). 8.3 Appearance and opacity 8.3.1 All paints of type B and those of type
23、s A and C, other than those having the colours specified in8.3.2 and 8.3.3, when prepared and tested in accordance with Annex B using a painting system comprising one sealing coat and one finishing coat shall be smooth, even and free from wet edge defects, runs, flotation or other defects. There sha

The ink line Shall be completely obliterated. 8.3.2 Paint of type A and type C conforming to any of the following colour references specified in BS4800:1989, or colours of similar hue and depth of shade, when prepared and tested in accordance with Annex B using
