It is identical with ISO5123:1984 “Documentation Headers for microfiche of monographs and serials”, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It should be noted that the reco
9、mmendations of5.4.1 will not be suitable for certain COM (computer output microfiche) applications in which a different form of designation of the content of the microfiche is supplied automatically. Terminology and conventions. The text of the International Standard has been approved as suitable fo
10、r publication as a British Standard without deviation. Some terminology and certain conventions are not identical with those used in British Standards; attention is drawn especially to the following. Wherever the words “International Standard” appear, referring to this standard, they should be read
11、as “British Standard”. Cross-references. The references toISO2707, ISO2708 and ISO5126 are purely informative and do not affect the validity of the standard. The other standards listed inclause2 are not referred to elsewhere in the text. The ISO references for which there are corresponding British S
12、tandards are as follows. For ISO 690:1975 there is a related British Standard, BS1629:1976 “Recommendations for bibliographical references”. British Standards for the conversion of written languages related to those International Standards listed for information inclause2 are: BS2979:1958 “Translite

17、I 12-1999 1 0 Introduction This International Standard has been drafted jointly with TC171, Micrographics. 1 Scope and field of application This International Standard lays down rules for the presentation of the information to be provided in the header areas of microfiche produced for distribution b
18、y, or to, libraries and information centres. It is applicable to original micropublications as well as to microfiche editions of monographs and serials and their contributions. It is applicable equally to complete works as well as to parts of works and to catalogues whether the microfiche are produc
19、ed by computer output microfilming (COM) or other methods, for example step-and-repeat camera. For each of the above categories of publication, this International Standard describes the information necessary for simple identification and retrieval. For more complete bibliographic information for oth
20、er purposes, see5.3 and clause6. This International Standard does not deal with the technical characteristics of microfiche.
