11、 Rubber Standards Policy Committee and supersedes BS6586-1:1985which is withdrawn. Although this standard continues to be primarily for quality assurance uses with guidance included for those involved in design work in Annex A, in this revision a designation system has been introduced whereby the ma
12、nufacturer declares the thermal conductivity in a coded form. This Part also contains guidelines (in Annex B and Annex C) on burning properties and fire hazards. These guidelines are in accordance with the principles recommended in BS6336. Attention is drawn to BS4840-1which specifies requirements f
13、or rigid polyurethane (PUR) foam produced in slab form for use in transport containers and insulated vehicle bodies. For the insulation of refrigerator cabinets, cold rooms and stores, attention is drawn to BS4840-2, BS2501and BS2502. WARNING. Adequate fire precautions should be taken when repairing
14、 any structure containing polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foams. Do not use welding or flame cutting equipment or any other appliances involving naked flames or involving hot air welders. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Sta
15、ndards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. 17、ne (PUR) foam manufactured by the press injection method for use in the construction of insulated panels for transport containers and insulated vehicle bodies. This Part of BS6586is not applicable to the in situ insulation of fully constructed transport containers and insulated vehicle bodies. 2 Ref

20、s standard are listed on the inside back cover but reference should be made to the latest editions. 3 Designation The foam panels shall be designated according to their thermal conductivity. The designation shall comprise the following in the order presented: a) the number and date of the British St
21、andard, i.e. BS6586-1:1993; b) a double digit number to indicate the thermal conductivity selected in accordance with Table 1. Example The designation required for a foam panel with a thermal conductivity of0.020W/(mK) (see7.2) is as follows. BS 6586-1:1993/20 4 Composition and form The material sha
22、ll consist of rigid polyurethane (PUR) foam which shall have a uniform cellular structure. The foam shall be in the form of panels integrally bonded on their two major faces to sheets of metal or other material during manufacture. NOTENo requirement for odour is included as its assessment is largely
23、 subjective. However, it is recommended that the material should be supplied free from objectionable odour. Table 1 Designation codes for thermal conductivity 5 Preparation of test panels A separate panel shall be manufactured for the purpose of physical property assessment. It shall have minimum di
24、mensions of2.5 m 1.2m with the same thickness and facing materials as used for the container or insulated vehicle body. 6 Preparation of test specimens After manufacture the test panels shall be left intact, i.e. with the facing materials adhered to the foam, for a minimum of3days before preparation
