7、Building and Civil Engineering. It is a revision of BS5502-1.0:1986 which is withdrawn. BS 5502 has been restructured to enable subject areas to be broadly characterized, and related subject matter, whether in the form of recommendations, guidance or supporting data, to be rationalized and brought t
8、ogether. It will also allow sufficient flexibility to enable BS5502 to be expanded and developed in a logical way in the future. It has been assumed in the drafting of this Part of BS5502 that the execution of its provisions is entrusted to appropriately qualified and experienced people, for whose g
9、uidance it has been prepared. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. Summary of

11、7-1999 1 Introduction 1 Scope This Part of BS5502 describes the structure of this British Standard and contains a consolidated index for the currently published Parts. BS 5502 provides information and gives recommendations on the principles involved in the design and construction of buildings and st
12、ructures used for agriculture. The recommendations are primarily intended to be applicable to new buildings, conversions and extensions, though they are relevant to renovation and repairs of existing buildings. 2 The structure of BS 5502 The new structure developed for this standard brings together
13、information concerning specific areas of activity, broadly categorized into the following series: a) general data series (Parts 10 to 19); b) general design series (Parts 20 to 39); c) livestock building series (Parts 40 to 59); d) crop buildings series (Parts 60 to 79); e) ancillary buildings (Part
14、s 80 to 99). Each series will comprise the following Parts: Parts 10 to 19 Reference information and legislation Part 11: Guide to regulations and sources of information. Parts 20 to 39 General design Part 20: Code of practice for general design considerations; Part 21: Code of practice for selectio
15、n and use of construction materials; Part 22: Code of practice for design, construction and loading; Part 23: Code of practice for fire precautions; Part 25: Code of practice for design and installation of services and facilities; Part 30: Code of practice for control of infestation; Part 31: Guide
