9、ion referred to Inside back coverBS4737-3.14:1986 ii BSI 12-1998 Foreword This revision of this Section of BS4737 has been prepared under the direction of the Furniture and Household Equipment Standards Committee to reflect technical advances since the publication of BS4737-3.14:1979. This revision
10、supersedes the requirements of that previous edition which is withdrawn. The main objectives of BS4737 are to maximize the effectiveness of intruder alarm systems in respect of the detection and signalling of unauthorized intrusions and to minimize the incidence of false alarms. BS 4737 is being rev
11、ised and published in Parts as follows. Part 1: Specification for installed systems with local audible and/or remote signalling; Part 2: Specification for installed systems for deliberate operation; Part 3: Specifications for components (incorporating a revision of the existing Sections 3.1 to 3.14
12、of BS4737); Part 4: Codes of practice; Part 5: Glossary of terms. The objective of this Section of the revised BS4737 is to specify requirements for deliberately-operated devices which will ensure that they perform satisfactorily, minimize false alarms and are compatible with other parts of an intru
13、der alarm system. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. Summary of pages This d

15、.14:1986 BSI 12-1998 1 1 Scope This Section of BS4737 specifies construction and performance requirements for manually operated and foot-operated deliberately-operated devices for use in intruder alarm systems in buildings. NOTEThe title of the publication referred to in this standard is given on th
16、e inside back cover. 2 Definitions For the purposes of this Section of BS4737 the definitions given in BS4737-2 apply together with the following. operating member that part of a deliberately-operated device requiring a specifically applied force to generate the alarm condition NOTEAn example of an
17、operating member is the button of a push-button device. 3 Construction and performance 3.1 General A deliberately-operated device shall comply with 3.2 to 3.6 before and after being subjected separately to each of the following environments: a) an impact of 1.9 0.1 J applied in two differing directi
18、ons, at 60 to the surface of normal mounting of the device, to any appropriate parts of the device by means of an aluminium alloy hammer of plane face; b) exposure to dry heat at 55C for 16h; c) exposure to 10C for 16 h. The environments shall be applied to a device in its normal, i.e. non-alarm, co
19、ndition. For b) and c) the necessary tests for compliance shall be carried out immediately following exposure to the specified environment and with the device still at the test temperature. NOTEA predicted operating life of not less than 10years is considered necessary for these devices, which shoul
20、d function satisfactorily after periods of up to one year in the unoperated condition. 3.2 Configuration A deliberately-operated device shall consist of a physically operated switching device functioning by the opening of a normally closed circuit unless it is in the form of a sensitive strip contai
21、ning a distributed electrical contact in which each internal conductor is monitored as part of a closed circuit. The operation of a deliberately-operated device shall require: a) for type X devices, the application of a single force to the operating member; b) for type Y devices, the application of
22、two simultaneous forces to separate operating members; c) for type Z devices, the application of two consecutive forces to separate operating members, with the first force requiring to be maintained until application of the second. 3.3 Operating mechanism The operating mechanism of a deliberately-op
