This revision

10、supersedes the requirements of that previous edition which is withdrawn. The main objectives of BS4737 are to maximize the effectiveness of intruder alarm systems in respect of the detection and signalling of unauthorized intrusions and to minimize the incidence of false alarms. BS 4737 is being rev

11、ised and published in Parts as follows. Part 1: Specification for installed systems with local audible and/or remote signalling; Part 2: Specification for installed systems for deliberate operation; Part 3: Specifications for components (incorporating a revision of the existing Sections 3.1 to 3.14

12、of BS4737); Part 4: Codes of practice; Part 5: Glossary of terms. The objective of this Section of the revised BS4737 is to specify requirements for deliberately-operated devices which will ensure that they perform satisfactorily, minimize false alarms and are compatible with other parts of an intru

13、der alarm system. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. 15、.14:1986 BSI 12-1998 1 1 Scope This Section of BS4737 specifies construction and performance requirements for manually operated and foot-operated deliberately-operated devices for use in intruder alarm systems in buildings. NOTEThe title of the publication referred to in this standard is given on th

16、e inside back cover. 2 Definitions For the purposes of this Section of BS4737 the definitions given in BS4737-2 apply together with the following. operating member that part of a deliberately-operated device requiring a specifically applied force to generate the alarm condition NOTEAn example of an

17、operating member is the button of a push-button device. 3 Construction and performance 3.1 General A deliberately-operated device shall comply with 3.2 to 3.6 before and after being subjected separately to each of the following environments: a) an impact of 1.9 0.1 J applied in two differing directi

18、ons, at 60 to the surface of normal mounting of the device, to any appropriate parts of the device by means of an aluminium alloy hammer of plane face; b) exposure to dry heat at 55C for 16h; c) exposure to 10C for 16 h. The environments shall be applied to a device in its normal, i.e. non-alarm, co

19、ndition. For b) and c) the necessary tests for compliance shall be carried out immediately following exposure to the specified environment and with the device still at the test temperature. NOTEA predicted operating life of not less than 10years is considered necessary for these devices, which shoul

20、d function satisfactorily after periods of up to one year in the unoperated condition. 3.2 Configuration A deliberately-operated device shall consist of a physically operated switching device functioning by the opening of a normally closed circuit unless it is in the form of a sensitive strip contai

21、ning a distributed electrical contact in which each internal conductor is monitored as part of a closed circuit. The operation of a deliberately-operated device shall require: a) for type X devices, the application of a single force to the operating member; b) for type Y devices, the application of

22、two simultaneous forces to separate operating members; c) for type Z devices, the application of two consecutive forces to separate operating members, with the first force requiring to be maintained until application of the second. 3.3 Operating mechanism The operating mechanism of a deliberately-op

23、erated device shall be as given in either a) or b). a) Non-latching, such that following removal of the operating force(s) the device returns to its original state. An indication or output shall be given to show that operation has occurred. b) Latching, such that following its operation the device s

24、hall remain in the operated condition until reset. An indication shall be given that operation has occurred. For devices of types YandZ (see3.2), latching shall not be possible unless both operating forces have been correctly applied. The operating member of a manually operated device shall be flush

25、 with, or recessed with respect to, surrounding surfaces and shall be not less than15mm in its shortest diameter. NOTEThe operating member of a deliberately-operated device should be designed to minimize the possibility of accidental operation and to permit deliberate operation without the necessity

26、 for obvious body movement. 3.4 Operating forces 3.4.1 Manually operated devices. The force for a manually operated device of type X, or forces for manually operated devices of types Y and Z, required to operate the device shall be not less than4N and not more than 5N when applied in the appropriate

27、 direction(s) of movement with a hemispherically-ended test probe of 6.0 0.5mm diameter. 3.4.2 Foot-operated devices. The force for a foot-operated device of type X, or forces for foot-operated devices of types Y and Z, required to operate the device shall be not less than 5N and not more than 8N wh

28、en applied in the appropriate direction(s) of movement with a hemispherically-ended test probe of 12.0 0.5mm diameter.BS 4737-3.14:1986 2 BSI 12-1998 3.5 Sound level The operation of the type of device described as “normal” shall not produce a sound level greater than 60dB(A) and the operation of th

29、e type of device described as “quiet” shall not produce a sound level greater than 30dB(A), when measured by an impulse sound level meter at a distance of 1m in any direction in an anechoic chamber. 3.6 Alarm condition A deliberately-operated device shall generate an alarm condition as the result of

30、 the deliberate application of any appropriate operating force for a device of type X, or forces for devices of types Y and Z, in the range specified in 3.4 to the operating member of the device. Following the removal of the applied force, or forces, a non-latching device 3.3 a) shall return to its

31、original state within 10s and a latching device3.3 b) shall remain in the operated condition and shall require resetting before a further alarm condition can be generated. 4 Marking and product specification 4.1 Marking A deliberately-operated device claimed to comply with the requirements of this s

32、tandard shall be marked with the following; a) the name or identification mark of the manufacturer; b) the number and date of this British Standard, i.e. BS4737-3.14:1986 1) ; c) the date of manufacture, coded if necessary. 4.2 Product specification A deliberately-operated device shall be accompanie

33、d by a product specification giving: a) the type of device as specified in 3.2, i.e. type X, Y or Z; b) whether the device is latching or non-latching as specified in 3.3; c) whether the device is of the normal or quiet type as specified in 3.5; d) wiring and mounting instructions; e) instructions f

34、or any necessary adjustment, including the specification for any special tool(s) required. 1) Marking BS4737-3.14:1986 on or in relation to a product is a claim by the manufacturer that the product has been manufactured to the requirements of the standard.
