6、on of BS 1913 has been prepared under the direction of the Chemicals Standards Policy Committee. It supersedes the 1985 edition of BS 1913, which is withdrawn and from which it differs principally in that the references to test methods have been changed to take account of the partial revision of BS1
7、715:1963, and that the requirement for rosin acids content has been deleted. This British Standard is one of a series dealing with various kinds of soap. Other standards in the series are as follows: BS 1545, Specification for liquid toilet soap. BS 1911, Specification for hard soap. BS 1912, Specif
8、ication for soap flakes. BS 1914, Specification for toilet soap. BS 4405, Specification for liquid soap. Soft soap is distinguished from ordinary soap by its soft, jelly-like texture, and thus is usually packed in metal or waxed paper containers. A British Standard does not purport to include all th
9、e necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. 11、es corresponding test methods for two types of soft soap with a potassium or sodium base, or a mixture of these bases. It does not apply to soaps for medicinal purposes. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Classification Two types of
12、 soft soap are classified (see Table 1). Type A is suitable for general toilet purposes and type B for domestic cleaning purposes. 3 Properties 3.1 The contents of soft soap shall be as given in Table 1. Compliance shall be checked by the methods given in Table 1 and in accordance with 3.3 using ana
13、lysis samples prepared as described in BS 1715-1. 3.2 In the case of the properties listed in items 2 and3 of Table 1, the actual results obtained by the specified methods of test shall be recalculated in relation to the specified minimum total fatty matter content (see Table 1, item 1) by means of
14、the following equation: Recalculated result = NOTERecalculation of the results is necessary because soft soap is liable to lose moisture on keeping. 3.3 The soft soap shall not become liquid at 32 C, and no liquid shall separate when the soap is maintained at 0 1 C for 24 h.
