Section 3.0 shows the general arrangement of BS1902 and lists the Sections of Part 3. 1 Scope This Section specifies the methods for measuring the dimensions of bricks and test pieces that are nominally rectangular or cylindrical in shape. 2
、Reference The title of the standards publication referred to in this Section of this British Standard is given on the inside back cover. 3 Designation The methods specified in this Section may be referred to by the following designations. 4 Apparatus The following apparatus is required. 4.1 Vernier
、caliper, (see BS887) for measuring rectangular or cylindrical specimens. 4.2 Flat steel rule, which may be used in place of the vernier caliper if only rectangular specimens are to be measured. The rule may have a fixed hook at one end, consisting of a piece of hard steel projecting not more than 6m
、m at right angles to the edge of the rule, to fix the zero point of the scale against one edge of the brick. The rule may also have a sliding hook of similar dimensions. 5 Procedure 5.1 The definition of the edges and surfaces may be improved by the removal of any fringes, small blisters, etc.by lig

、 with the face of the specimen at right angles to the one being measured. 5.4 In the case of a rectangular brick or specimen, measure the three principal dimensions (length, width and thickness) of each brick or test piece to the appropriate accuracy 1) , using a vernier caliper or a flat steel rule
