Scope1.1 This specification covers crosslinked polyethylene(PEX) pipe that is outside diameter controlled, made innominal pip
3、e dimension ratios, and pressure rated for water atthree temperatures (see Appendix X1). Included are require-ments and test methods for material, workmanship, dimen-sions, burst pressure, hydrostatic sustained pressure, excessivetemperature pressure, excessive temperature-pressure, environ-mental s
4、tress cracking, stabilizer functionality, bent-pipe hy-drostatic pressure, oxidative stability in potable chlorinatedwater, and degree of crosslinking. Requirements for pipemarkings are also given.1.2 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes,and appendixes, which provide explanator

Thesenotes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shallnot be considered as requirements of the specification.1.3 Except for dimensions, the values stated in inch-poundunits are to be regarded as standard. The abbreviationfor crosslinked polyethylene is PEX. Plastic pipe denotes ap
21、articular diameter schedule of plastic pipe in which outsidediameter of the pipe conforms with ISO 4427.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.3 crosslinked polyethylene plasticsplastics prepared bycrosslinking (curing) polyethylene compounds.3.4 hydrostatic design stress (HDS)the esti
22、mated maxi-mum tensile stress the material is capable of withstandingcontinuously with a high degree of certainty that failure of thepipe will not occur. This stress is circumferential when internalhydrostatic water pressure is applied. The HDS is equal to thehydrostatic design basis (HDB) times the
