Terminology3.1 back-up flangethe flange used to back up the lap jointto facilitate the pipe connection, also known in industry asloose, slip, plate, or spin flange.3.2 convoluted flangea back-up flange designed with avariable cross section to provide the material in the stress-related zones.3
