8、cific to This Standard:3.1.1 HFChydrofluorocarbon; a chemical compound inwhich the compound molecule is comprised exclusively ofhydrogen, chlorine, fluorine and carbon atoms.3.1.2 HFC Blend Btertiary blend comprised of HFC-134a(1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane), HFC-125 (pentafluoroethane), andcarbon dioxi

9、de (CO2); a compound used to inert, extinguish, orsuppress a fire or explosion hazard.3.1.2.1 DiscussionThe terminology system for fluorine-containing compounds (described in detail in ASHRAE Stan-dard 34) provides a convenient means to reference the structureof individual compounds. By definition,

10、the first digit of thenumbering system represents one less than the number ofcarbon atoms in the compound molecule; the second digit, onemore than the number of hydrogen atoms in the compoundmolecule; and the third digit, the number of fluorine atoms inthe compound molecule. Unaccounted for valence

11、require-ments are assumed to be chlorine atoms. For example, thedesignation HFC-123 indicates two carbon atoms (1 + 1), twohydrogen atoms (3-1), and four fluorine atoms (4). The “a”designation at the end of the naming convention relates to thesymmetry of the molecule.Example: CH2FCF3= HFC-134a4. Mat

12、erial Requirements4.1 The fill density of HFC Blend B within a containershould not exceed that needed to achieve complete filling of thecontainer at the maximum envisaged storage temperature. 16、ld not exceed 58 lb/ft3(930kg/m3) for a maximum expected temperature of 130F (54C).4.2 HFC Blend B shall conform to the requirements pre-scribed in Table 1 when tested by appropriate test methods,such as those listed in Section 2.2.4.3 When a material analysis is required, by agreementbetween the pu

17、rchaser and the supplier, the total pressure in theHFC Blend B container, the fill density of HFC Blend B withinthe container and the maximum safe storage temperature shallbe part of the material analysis (certification). The pressureshall be reported in pound-force per square inch gage (pre-ferred)

18、 or bar. The fill density shall be reported in pounds percubic foot at 70F (preferred) or kilograms per cubic meter at21C. The maximum safe storage temperature of the HFCBlend B container shall be reported in degrees Fahrenheit(preferred) or in degrees Celsius and shall conform to appli-cable regula

19、tions for the HFC Blend B container design anduse.4.4 By agreement between the purchaser and the supplier,analysis may be required and limits established for elements orcompounds not specified in Table 1.NOTE 1Prolonged exposure to concentrations of HFC Blend B inexcess of 7.5 % by volume in air dur

20、ing periods of elevated adrenalinecould produce cardiac arrhythmia in some personnel.5. Sampling5.1 Samples of HFC Blend B, taken from the liquid phase,shall be taken from filled containers in accordance with themethod specified in ISO 3427. The sampling cylinder shall becapable of safely resisting

21、the vapor pressure of the sample atthe highest temperature that could be encountered.5.2 The HFC Blend B selected in accordance with 5.1 shallbe tested for quality conformance in accordance with Table 1.The presence of one or more defects shall be cause forrejection.6. Test Methods6.1 Analysis will

22、be conducted in accordance with PracticeD 6806.6.2 Acidity analysis will be conducted in accordance withTest Methods D 3444.6.3 Water content analysis will be conducted in accordancewith Test Methods D 3401.6.4 Nonvolatile residue analysis will be conducted in accor-dance with Test Methods D 2109.6.

23、5 When liquid dispensed into a glass tube and shaken, nosediment or visible matter shall be visible.7. Container, Packaging, and Package Marking7.1 Containers used for shipping and storage of HFC BlendB conforming to this specification shall be marked in accor-dance with Code of Federal Regulations

24、(CFR) Title 49, Part172, Subpart D. The proper shipping name is “CompressedGases. N.O.S., (contains pentafluoroethane, carbon dioxide),2.2, UN1956.” In addition to DOT requirements, containersshould be marked with the following information as a mini-mum:7.1.1 Suppliers name and address,7.1.2 HFC Ble

25、nd B, and7.1.3 Statement that material conforms to SpecificationD 7327.8.
