Scope1.1 This specification covers flexible sheet made fromketone ethylene ester (KEE) as the primary polymer intendedfor use in single ply roofing
3、 membrane exposed to the weather.The sheet shall be reinforced with fabric.1.2 In-place roof system design criteria, such as fire resis-tance, field-seaming strength, material compatibility, upliftresistance, in-situ shrinkage, among others, are factors thatmust be considered, but are beyond the sco
4、pe of this specifi-cation.1.3 The following precautionary caveat pertains to the testmethods portion only, Section 8, of this specification: Thisstandard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns,if any, associated with its use. Terminology3.1 DefinitionsTerminology D 1079 shall apply to thisspecification.3.2 ketone ethylene ester (KEE), na high molecularweight thermoplastic copolymer of ethylene, containing carbonmonoxide and either vinyl acetate or acrylate monomer whichare incorporated to provide softness an
10、d polarity.83.3 polymer content, nin this specification, polymer con-tent shall be defined as polymeric materials which are in thesolid state at room temperature, and are high (greater than50 000 Mw) in molecular weight. Other ingredients, known tothe art of polymer compounding, such as certain waxe
11、s,stabilizers, and other additives, while polymeric in nature arenot considered to be part of the base polymer system.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 The sheet shall be formulated from the appropriatepolymers and other compounding ingredients. The KEE poly-mer shall be a minimum of 50 % by weight of
12、 the polymercontent of the sheet.4.2 The sheet shall be reinforced internally with a fabric.4.3 To make seam and repairs, the sheet shall be capable ofbeing bonded watertight to itself during the design service lifeof the sheets. The manufacturer shall recommend a suitablemethod. Design service life
13、 is defined as the designated timeperiod of intended system performance.5. Carbon monoxidegroups within the polymer backbone provide polarity. The KEE polymer

Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The sheet, including factory seams if present, shall bewatertight and be visually free of pinholes, particles of foreignmat
19、ter, undispersed raw materials, protruding reinforcement,and other manufacturing defects that might affect serviceabil-ity.7.2 The sheet shall be visually free of nicks and cuts, voids,thin areas, delaminations, moisture-bound fabric, or otherdefects.7.3 Edges of the sheet shall be straight and flat
20、 so that theymay be seamed to one another.8.
