Scope1.1 This specification covers asbestos-free asphalt roof ce-ment sui

Classification3.1 Type IType I is made from asphalts characterized asself-healing, adhesive, and ductile, and conforming to therequirements of

6、 Specification D 312, Type I; SpecificationD 449, Types I or II; or Specification D 946.3.1.1 Class I is used for application to essentially drysurfaces.3.1.2 Class II is used for application to damp, wet, orunderwater surfaces and dry surfaces.3.2 Type IIType II is made from asphalt characterized b

7、yhigh softening point and relatively low ductility, and conform-ing to the requirements of Specification D 312, Types II or III;or Specification D 449, Types II or III.3.2.1 Class I is used for application to essentially drysurfaces.3.2.2 Class II is used for application to damp, wet, orunderwater s

Materials and Manufacture4.1 Asphalt roof cement shall consist of an asphalt base,volatile petroleum solvents, and mineral and/or other stabiliz-ers, excluding asbestos, mixed to a smooth, uniform consis-tency suitable for trowel application.5. Composition5.1 Asphalt roof cement complying

9、 with this specificationshall conform to the following composition limits:min maxWater content, % . 3.0Nonvolatile content, % 70 .Mineral and/or other stabilizers, % 15 40Bitumen (asphalt), % 35 656. Physical Requirements6.1 UniformityA thoroughly stirred sample shall show noseparation of solvent or

10、 settling that cannot be overcome bymoderate stirring after standing for 72 h at room temperature ina closed container.6.2 WorkabilityThe cement shall be of a consistency thatwill spread readily and permit troweling smooth coatings, 2 to6mm(116 to14 in.) thick, on prepared roofing, saturated felt,an

11、d metal surfaces at ambient temperatures above 10C (50F).6.3 Behavior at 60C (140F)The cement shall show noevidence of blistering, and sag or slide shall be no greater than6mm(14 in.).6.4 Pliability at 0C (32F)There shall be no cracking orseparation of the cement from the metal.7. Rejection and Rehearing11.1 Failure to conform to any of the requirements pre-scribed in this specification shall c

16、onstitute grounds for rejec-tion. In cases of rejection, the seller shall have the right toreinspect and resubmit the lot after removal of those packagesnot conforming to the specified requirements.12. Packaging and Package Marking12.1 All products shall be packaged and labeled in accor-dance with a

17、pplicable regulations. Each package shall bemarked to indicate the applicable ASTM specification, includ-ing Type and Class.13.
