Scope*1.1 This specification establishes requirements and methodsof test for the material, dimensions, and workmansh
3、ip, and thephysical and electrical properties of molded sheet in minimumthicknesses of 0.794 mm 132 in. manufactured from PTFEresin molding materials.1.2 This specification also establishes requirements formolded basic shapes made from resin molding and extrusionmaterials. This specification is for
4、products 300 mm 12 in. orless in a dimension parallel to and 12.7 mm 0.5 in. or greaterin the dimension perpendicular to the direction of the appliedmolding pressure.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard.1.4 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to thetest me
5、thod portion, Section 7, of this specification. Thisstandard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns,if any, associated with its use. Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 Definitions are in accordance with Terminology D 883unless otherwise specified.3.1.2 lot, none continuous production run or a uniformblend of two or more production runs of one size sheet ormolded basic shape.3.2 Abbreviations:Abbreviation
11、s are in accordance withTerminology D 1600.4. Classification4.1 This specification covers the following four types ofmolded basic sheets and shapes:4.1.1 Type IPremium; normally used for exacting electri-cal, mechanical, or chemical applications.4.1.2 Type IIGeneral purpose; for electrical, mechanic
12、al,and chemical applications not requiring premium material.4.1.3 Type IIIMechanical Grade; for non-critical chemi-cal, electrical, and mechanical applications.4.1.4 Type IVUtility; having no electrical requirementsand with mechanical properties at a lower level.1This specification is under the juri

16、 using reprocessed resin.4.3 The grades shall be further subdivided into three classesas follows:4.3.1 Class Aresistant to thermal dimensional change notexceeding 0.5 %.4.3.2 Class Bthermal dimensional change not exceeding5.0 %.4.3.3 Class Cno requirement for thermal dimensionalchange.4.4 A one-line
17、 system shall be used to specify materialscovered by this specification. 19、s used as the separator between the standard Numberand the Type. Separators are not needed between the Type,Grade, and Class.8Provision for Special Notes is included sothat other information shall be provided when required. Anexample would be in Specification D 3295 where dimensionsand tolerances ar
20、e specified for each AWG size within Typeand Class. When Special Notes are used, they shall be precededby a comma.5. Ordering Information5.1 The molded sheet or basic shapes covered in thisspecification shall be ordered stating the type, grade, and classand that they meet the requirements of this sp
21、ecification.6. Materials6.1 The sheet or molded basic shape from Types I, II, III, orIV shall be made from unpigmented PTFE as free of foreignmatter as commercially practical.7. Requirements7.1 The sheet covered by this specification shall meet thephysical and electrical requirements specified in Ta
22、ble 1 andparagraph 7.1.1 when tested by the methods given in Section13.7.2 The molded basic shapes covered by this specificationshall meet the physical and electrical requirements specified inTable 2 and 7.1.1 when tested by the test methods given inSection 13.7.2.1 Melting Pointthe melting point of
23、 all types of sheetand molded basic shapes shall be 327 6 10C when tested inaccordance with paragraph 13.8.8. Dimensions8.1 The size, shape, dimensional tolerances, and dimen-sional stability shall be as specified in the contract or order.8.2 The tolerance on length and width shall be plus 6.3 mm14
24、in., minus 0 mm 0 in.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 ColorType I shall be white to translucent, but oftenhave occasional spots. Types II, III, and IV are typically white,but will vary to light gray or light brown. For Types II, III, andIV occasional small gray, brown, or black spots shall
