Scope1.1 This specification covers the pigment commerciallyknown as bone black, ivory black, or drop black. The pigmentmay be purchased in the dry form or as

Composition and Properties3.1 Dry PigmentThe pigment shall be made by thecalcination of bones, shall be unmixed with any other sub-stance, and shall conform to the following requirements:Ash (pigment dried at 105C),

6、using high speed dispersion equipment. The disper-sion shall conform to the following requirements:Pigment, min 38 %Dispersing agent 14 %Biocide, max 1 %Fungicide, max 1 %pH Stabilizer, max 1 %Defoamer, max 1 %Water 44 %3.3 The mass color and character of the tint and the tintingstrength formed by a

7、 mixture with a white pigment shall bewithin mutually agreed upon limits of a standard acceptable toboth the purchaser and the seller.4. Sampling4.1 Two samples shall be taken at random from differentpackages from each 500 lb batch, consisting of one lot. At theoption of the purchaser, the samples m

8、ay be tested separatelyor after blending in equal quantities the samples from the sameproduction unit to form a composite sample.5. Test Methods5.1 Tests shall be conducted in accordance with the follow-ingASTM test methods. Test procedures not covered byASTMtest methods shall be mutually agreed upo
