Scope1.1 This specification covers the composition, sizes, dimen-sions, and
3、physical properties of cellular glass thermal insula-tion intended for use on surfaces operating at temperaturesbetween 450 and 800F (268 and 427C). Special fabrica-tion or techniques for pipe insulation, or both, may be requiredfor application in the temperature range from 250 to 800F(121 to 427C).
4、 Contact the manufacturer for recommenda-tions regarding fabrication and application procedures for usein this temperature range. For specific applications, the actualtemperature limits shall be agreed upon between the manufac-turer and the purchaser.1.2 It is anticipated that single-layer pipe insu
5、lation in halfsections or the inner layer of a multilayer system may exhibitstress cracks above 250F (122C).1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses are providedfor information and may be approximate.1.4 This standard does not purpo

Classification44.1 Cellular glass insulation covered
18、by this specificationshall be classified in the two grades shown in Table 1. Gradesvary in density, thermal conductivity, compressive strength,and flexural strength. Cellular glass insulation may be fur-nished in the following types:4.1.1 Type IFlat block, generally manufactured in Grades1 and 2.4.1
19、.2 Type IIPipe and tubing insulation, generally fabri-cated in Grades 1 and 2.4.1.3 Type IIISpecial shapes, generally fabricated inGrades 1 and 2.4.1.4 Type IVBoard, generally fabricated in Grade 2.NOTE 1Type and grade combinations not listed here may not becommercially available. These would be con

Ordering Information5.1 Purchase orders for cellular glass insulation furnished tothis specification shall include the following information:5.1.1 Type and grade designation (see 4.1),5.1.2 Dimensions according to type and grade (see Section8), and5.1.3 Jacketing when
21、required.5.2 Any special requirements, such as, type and gradefabrication combinations not listed in accordance with Section4, nonstandard dimensions in accordance with Section 8,inspection requirements in accordance with Section 13,orcertification requirements in accordance with Section 16 shallbe
22、agreed upon between the purchaser and the supplier andstated in the purchase contract.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 The block material shall consist of a glass compositionthat has been foamed or cellulated under molten conditions,annealed, and set to form a rigid noncombustible material withhermet
23、ically sealed cells. The material shall be trimmed intoblocks of standard dimensions that may be rectangular ortapered.6.2 Special shapes and pipe covering shall be fabricatedfrom blocks in accordance with Practices C 450 and C 585 andAnnex A1 of this specification.6.3 Board, tapered or flat, shall
24、be fabricated from blocks.7. Physical Properties7.1 The cellular glass insulation shall conform to the physi-cal requirements in Table 1. The manufacturer should becontacted for specific design recommendations for all materialtypes.8. Qualification Requirements8.1 The following requirements are gene
