1、Designation: B 660 08Standard Practices forPackaging/Packing of Aluminum and Magnesium Products1This standard is issued under the fixed designation B 660; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. Scope*1.1 These practices describe methods of packaging/packin
3、galuminum and magnesium products, in preparation for storageor shipment, both foreign and domestic. Assuming proper andnormal handling in transit, these practices are designed todeliver the products to their destination in good condition. ForDoD redistribution, see Supplementary Requirements.1.2 The
4、 values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.3 Aluminum and magnesium products must be preservedand packed so as to be adequately prote
5、cted from possibledamage during shipment and storage. Major damage types are:1.3.1 Mechanical, including bending, crushing, denting,scratching, or gouging during handling and storage; andabrasions resulting from vibration during transport of thematerial.1.3.2 Corrosion, or water stain, resulting fro
6、m exposure ofpacked material to water, either externally applied, or ascondensate caused by temperature variations in a humidatmosphere.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to es

Classification3.1 Levels of ProtectionThe following levels of protectionapply equally to preservation and packing.3.1.1 Level AThe degree required for protection againstthe most severe conditions known or anticipated to be encoun-tered during shipment, multiple rough ha
19、ndling, and intransitstorage.3.1.2 Commercial PackagingThe degree required for pro-tection of material during shipment from supplier to user forimmediate use or limited storage in a dry, heated storagefacility. The methods and materials employed by the supplier tosatisfy the requirements of the comm
20、ercial distribution systemto provide protection against corrosion, deterioration, anddamage during shipment to a user may be used.4. Terminology4.1 Definitions:4.1.1 corner protectorprotective material placed underties to protect edges of a package.4.1.2 deckboardpiece of lumber at right angles to s
21、tring-ers or skids of a pallet to form a bearing surface.4.1.3 fillerpiece of material placed in a package to fillvoid space for the purpose of squaring out the contents.4.1.4 framing memberparts forming the main structure ofa crate.4.1.5 gross weightbare item weight and the weight of allpackaging a
22、nd packing materials.4.1.6 headermember of skid-type base used to join theends of two or more skids and provide added strength to thebase.4.1.7 interleavingplacement of a sheet of protective ma-terial between two adjacent pieces of metal.4.1.8 net weightbare item weight.4.1.9 nominalreferring to lum
