Scope*1.1 This specification establishes the requirements for cop-per nickel, fer
3、ro copper, phosphor copper, and silicon coppermaster alloys in ingot, shot, and waffle form to be used asaddition agents for cast and wrought alloys.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. Ordering Information3.1 Include the following information when placing ordersfor product to this specification:3.
7、1.1 ASTM designation and year of issue (for exampleB 644 XX).3.1.2 Alloy number and letter; generic name (Table 1),3.1.3 Form; size, weight, screen distribution,3.1.4 Quantity or total weight; each form, size, weight,screen distribution.4. Material and Manufacture4.1 MaterialAny material may be used
8、 which, whenmelted, will form an alloy of the required composition.4.2 ManufactureAny manufacturing process may be usedthat will yield a product uniform in composition and free ofdefects of a nature that would render the product unsuitable forthe intended application.5. Chemical Composition5.1 The p
9、roduct in final form shall conform to the require-ments prescribed in Table 1 for the specified alloy.5.1.1 These specification limits do not preclude the presenceof other elements. Limits may be established and analysisrequired for unnamed elements by agreement between themanufacturer and the purch
10、aser.6. Sampling6.1 The inspection lot size, portion size, and selection ofportion pieces shall be as follows:6.1.1 Lot SizeAn inspection lot shall consist of all productfrom a single heat.1This specification is under the jurisdiction ofASTM Committee B05 on Copperand Copper Alloys and is the direct

14、ct inshot or waffle form shall be not less than 1 lb (0.453 kg) andshall be selected to consist of an average of all sizes of productin the lot.6.1.3 Selection of Portion PiecesThe individual piecesshall be randomly selected.6.2 Chemical Analysis:6.2.1 The sample for chemical analysis shall be taken
15、 fromthe pieces selected in 6.1.2 in accordance with Practice E 255.The minimum weight of the composite sample shall be 150 g.6.2.2 Instead of sampling in accordance with PracticeE 255, the manufacturer shall have the option of samplingduring the pouring of the product.At least two samples shall bet
16、aken for each lot poured from the same source of moltenmetal.6.2.2.1 When the manufacturer determines chemical com-position during the course of manufacture, sampling of thefinished product is not required.7. Number of Tests and Retests7.1 Tests:7.1.1 Chemical AnalysisComposition shall be determined
17、as the average of results from at least two replicate determi-nations for each element specified in Table 1 for the specifiedalloy.7.2 Retests:7.2.1 Chemical Analysis:7.2.1.1 When requested by the manufacturer or supplier, aretest shall be permitted should test results obtained by thepurchaser fail
18、to conform with the requirements of Table 1 forthe specified alloy.7.2.1.2 The retest shall be as directed in 7.1 except thenumber of replicate determinations shall be twice that normallyrequired by this specification.All determinations shall conformto specification requirements. Failure to comply s
19、hall be causefor lot rejection.8. Specimen Preparation8.1 Chemical CompositionPreparation of the analyticalspecimen shall be the responsibility of the reporting laboratory.9. Test Methods9.1 Test methods used for quality control or productioncontrol, or both, for the determination of conformance toc
20、hemical compositional requirements are discretionary.9.1.1 Test methods used for obtaining data for the prepara-tion of certification or test report shall be made available to thepurchaser on request.9.2 Chemical Composition:9.2.1 In case of disagreement, the test method to be fol-lowed for a specif
