SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This docum

2、ent covers the requirements for general purpose trunks made of cotton material. 1.2 Classification. The trunks shall be one type in the following sizes as specified (see 6.2). The color of the finished trunks shall be gold shade 422 and shall show fastness to perspiration, laundering and crocking equal to or better than the standard sample. 3.2.1.2 pH. The pH value of the water extract of the finished cloth shall be not lessthan 5.5 n

17、or more than 8.5 when tested as specified in 4.2.1. 3.2.1.3 Finish. The starch and protein content, including chloroform soluble material, of the finished carded cotton cloth shall not exceed 3.0 percent when tested as specified in 4.2.1. * 3.2.2 Binding and ornamentation. The cloth for binding the

20、black shade 421. 3.2.2.2 Colorfastness. The dyed material shall show fastness to perspiration, laundering and crocking equal to or better than the standard sample. When no standard sample is available, the dyed cloth shall show “good“ fastness to perspiration and “good“ fastness to laundering as spe

21、cified in FED-STD-191, and shall show an AATCC Chromatic Transference Scale rating for crocking not less than 3.5 when tested as specified in 4.2.1. 3.2.3 Elastic webbing. The elastic webbing shall be 1 1/4 inches wide conforming to type I, class 9 or JJ-W-155, except that the elongation at low temp

The cotton thread for seaming and stitching shall be type IA2 and IA3, ticket No. 60, 3 ply conforming to

23、V-T-276. + 3.2.4.1 Color. The color of the thread for seaming and stitching shall match the basic fabric, except that the color of the thread for stitching and binding shall be black shade 421. colorfastness to perspiration and laundering. The dyed thread shall show good 3.2.5 Label. Each pair of tr

24、unks shall have a combination size, identification, and instruction label conforming to type VI, class 14 of DDD-L-20. The label shall show fastness to accelerated laundering. The body of the instructions shall be as follows: ? Hand or machine wash in cold or warm water. Tumble dry L cotton setting.

25、 Wash and dry each garment separately. DO NOT BLEACH. DO NOT REMOVE THIS LABEL. 3.3 Design. The trunks are thigh length, boxer style with elastic waist, bound leg opening and ornamentation along the outseams (see figure 1). 3.3.1 Figure. Figure 1 is furnished for information purposes only. If there

26、are any inconsistencies between this document and the figure, this document shall control. 3.4 Patterns. The pattern parts for the front and back shall be furnished and graded by the contractor with finished measurements of table II being maintained shall be 1/2 inch. The seam allowance for double-l

27、apped and double-stitched seams 3.5 Construction. 3.5.1 Stitches, seams and stitching. Stitch, seam,.and stitching types specified in table I shall conform to FED-STD-751. Whenever two or more methods of seams or stitches are given for the same part of the operation, any one of them may be used. Whe

28、re stitch type 401 is used, the looper (under thread) shall be on the inside of the pants. The gage of stitching for double-stitched seams shall be 3/16 to 1/4 inch. 3.5.2 Stitches per inch. The minimum and maximum number of stitches per inch shall be as specified in table I. 5 Provided by IHSNot fo

Ends of all seams and stitchings produced with 301 stitch type, when not caught in other seams or stitching, shall be backtacked not le

30、ss than 1/4 inch. Ends of a continuous line of stitching shall overlap not less than 1/2 inch, except for labels which shall have a minimum 3 stitch overlap. Thread breaks (all stitch types) shall be secured by stitching back of the break not less than 1/2 inch. stitches or thread breaks on 401 stit

31、ch type may be repaired using 301 stitch type. Seams shall be sewn so that no raw edges, runoffs, twists, pleats, puckers or open seams will result. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there is no tight or loose stitching. Skipped 3.6 Manufacturing operations requirements. The trunks shall be

32、 manufactured in accordance with operations requirements specified in table I. The contractor is not required to follow the exact sequence of operations. Any additional basting or holding stitching, other than those specified, used to facilitate manufacture is permissible provided the threads are re

33、moved or do not show in the finished trunks. 3.6.1 Marking. The component parts of the trunks shall be marked or bundled to ensure a uniform shade and size throughout the trunks. Any method of marking may be used except: a. Corrosive metal fastening devices. b. Sew-on type tickets. C. Adhesive type

40、 m 3.7 Finished measurements. The finished trunks shall conform to measurements as shown in table II. 3.8 Workmanship. The finished trunks shall conform to the quality of product established by this document. the applicable acceptable quality levels. Occurrence of defects shall not exceed 4. QUALITY

41、 ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility -for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contracto

42、r may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the document where such inspections are deemed necessary to assur

43、e supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. The 4.1.1 Certificate of compliance. When certificates of compliance are submitted, the Government reserves the right to check test such items to determine the validity of the certification. 4.2 Quality conformance inspection. Unless otherw

44、ise specified, sampling for inspection shall be performed in accordance.with MIL-STD-105. a 4.2.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents unless otherwise excluded, amended,

45、 modified, or qualified in this document or applicable purchase document. addition to testing provisions contained in subsidiary documents, testing shall be performed on components listed in table III for characteristics noted. Unless otherwise indicated, testing shall be conducted in accordance wit

46、h FED-STD-191. Al1 test reports shall contain the individual values used in expressing the final result. The lot shall be unacceptable if one or more sample units fail to meet any of the test requirements specified. The lot size and sample size shall be in accordance with the following: In Lot size
