The crane-shovel shall consist of a revolving power-unit superstruc- ture with front-end operating attachment mounted on a heavy framed, rubb

40、er-tired carrier. The revolving superstructure shall be convertible for use as a crane, clamshell, dragline, and pile driver. In addition, the 10T, 20T, and 35T sizes shall be convertible to a shovel and backhoe. The crane-shovels shall be constructed so that conversion to any of these uses can be e

41、ffected without the use of special tools and without the installa- tion of additional shafts, drums, clutches, or -parts. The drawings forming a part of this specification are engineering design drawings and are not intended for use as shop drawings. Critical dimensions and tolerances are furnished; however, th

43、e contractor is responsible for preparing his own shop drawings. The contractor is re- sponsible for providing tolerances in ac- cordance with industry standards for similar equipment and within those prescribed on the engineering design drawings to insure assembly and operation of the equipment. No

44、 deviation from dimensions or tolerances shown on the engineering design drawings is permissible without prior approval of the contracting officer. 3.2 Preproduction model. The preproduc- tion model is defined as a production model which will be identical to the crane-shovel which the manufacturer w

45、ill subsequently produce in fulfillment of the contract. As 80011 as practicable after award of the con- tract and prior to submission of any crane- shovels for final acceptance, the contractor shall furnish a preproduction model for ex- amination and test to determine conform- ance to this specific

46、ation. Examination and tests shall be those specified herein. Ap- proval of the preproduction model by the activity concerned shall not relieve the con- tractor of his obligation to supply crane shovels conforming to this specification. Any changes or deviations of production crane-shovels from the

47、preproduction model shall be subject to the approval of the con- tracting officer. 3.3 Material. Material shall be as specified herein and as shown on the applicable draw- ings. Materials not specified shall be selected by the contractor and shall be subject to all provisions of this specification.
