23、onThis Part is directed toward Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) Service Providers and manufacturers intending to build equipment for use in the CDPD internal network. This Part does not directly impact CDPD subscribers or Mobile End System (M-ES) manufacturers. This Part assumes that the reader i

24、s familiar with CDPD in general, as presented in Part 100. Part 100 provides a comprehensive glossary of CDPD terms. References to non-CDPD documents, shown in square brackets (e.g., CCITT-X.400), are also listed in Part 100, which provides a complete CDPD bibliography.The 600 series of the CDPD Sys

25、tem Specification defines the network support services within the CDPD Network. CDPD is a commercial public mobile data communications network, and as such, must provide additional services beyond those used by subscribers to allow successful operation of the network. This Part specifies the Message

To ensure a hi

29、gh level of network availability, the CDPD Network is designed to incorporate Network Management services that allow CDPD Service Providers to operate the network. The Network Management services provide timely information to the network operator to detect network faults, to exercise controls to cor

30、rect faults, and to configure the network for optimal operation.CDPD Network Management architecture and services are defined in the 700 series of the CDPD System Specification.1.1.2 Message Handling ServicesCDPD Message Handling Services (MHS), (Part 620) provides a generic message store and forwar

31、d service that is utilized by other CDPD Network Support Services (e.g., Accounting, Part 630).1.1.3 Accounting ServicesAccounting Services provide information on how the resources that provide CDPD Network Services are being used and by whom.CDPD Accounting Architecture and Services are defined in

32、Part 630. The CDPD Accounting Service collects network usage data for each subscriber to allow compilation for billing purposes. The data collected may include packet count, packet size, source and destination addresses, Cell-ID used by Mobile End Systems, approximate time of transmission, and so forth.The Accounting Service also may provide near real-time information of the network usage. This service facilitates Service Providers in providing up-to-date summary and settlement information on demand.1. Layer 3 CDPD Services.2. Layer 7 CDPD Services.
