9、INCITS/ISO/IEC 8859-11:20012008 ITIC 2008 All rights reservediv Foreword ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) and IEC (the International Electrotechnical Commission) form the specialized system for worldwide standardization. National bodies that are members of ISO or IEC particip
10、ate in the development of International Standards through technical committees established by the respective organization to deal with particular fields of technical activity. ISO and IEC technical committees collaborate in fields of mutual interest. Other international organizations, governmental a
11、nd non-governmental, in liaison with ISO and IEC, also take part in the work. In the field of information technology, ISO and IEC have established a joint technical committee, ISO/IEC JTC 1. International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 3. The
12、 main task of the joint technical committee is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards adopted by the joint technical committee are circulated to national bodies for voting. Publication as an International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the national bodies c

17、s and the coded representation of thesecharacters by means of a single 8-bit byte. 18、phabet1 ScopeThis part of ISO/IEC 8859 specifies a set of 183coded graphic characters identified as Latin/Thaialphabet.This set of coded graphic characters is intended foruse in data and text processing applications andalso for information interchange.The set contains graphic characters used for gen
19、eralpurpose applications in typical office environments inat least the following languages:Thai, English and Latin.Some of the characters in this set are combiningcharacters (see clause 6).This set of coded graphic characters may beregarded as a version of an 8-bit code according toISO/IEC 2022 or I
20、SO/IEC 4873 at level 1.This part of ISO/IEC 8859 may not be used inconjunction with any other parts of ISO/IEC 8859. Ifcoded characters from more than one part are to beused together, by means of code extensiontechniques, the equivalent coded character setsfrom ISO/IEC 10367 or their corresponding G
21、1 setsfrom ISO International Register of Coded CharacterSets to be used with escape sequences, should beused instead within a version of ISO/IEC 4873 atlevel 2 or level 3.The coded characters in this set may be used inconjunction with coded control functions selectedfrom ISO/IEC 6429. However, contr
22、ol functions arenot used to create composite graphic symbols fromtwo or more graphic characters (see clause 6).NOTE ISO/IEC 8859 is not intended for use withTelematic services defined by ITU-T. If information codedaccording to ISO/IEC 8859 is to be transferred to suchservices, it will have to confor
23、m to the requirements ofthose services at the access-point.2 Conformance2.1 Conformance of information interchangeA coded-character-data-element (CC-data-element)within coded information for interchange is inconformance with this part of ISO/IEC 8859 if all thecoded representations of graphic charac
24、ters withinthat CC-data-element conform to the requirementsof clause 6.2.2 Conformance of devicesA device is in conformance with this part of ISO/IEC8859 if it conforms to the requirements of 2.2.1, andeither or both of 2.2.2 and 2.2.3.
