This International Standardspecifies the minimum information that shall be included by manufac
13、turers in their specification sheets for scanners.This International Standard is made for the average end user. For this reason it does not describe all specificationsof scanners with special features such as double sided scanning or high speed. By insuring consistency ofspecification of scanner pro
14、duct information, this International Standard enables the end user to make meaningfulcomparisons of machine functionality and performance characteristics. The most meaningful parameters of functionand performance are specified and defined, and measures of performance are provided.This International
15、Standard further applies to types of scanners which are most prevalent in use, includingparameters for a scanning engine (an optomechanical physical device) and basic image processing only (thoseprocesses include digital data output with encoded gray scale, or unencoded single bit plus halftone data
16、). It does notrequire specification of advanced application processing such as OCR, translation, vector conversion, etc. Becausescanners use both software and/or hardware to achieve some scanner functions and controls, the standard containssome entries related to software even though the standard is
17、 primarily for scanner hardware. The manufacturer, athis option, may include description of such additional functionality which may be provided. This standard also doesnot consider image quality, nor does it provide or use related test targets.2 Normative referencesThe following standards contain pr

21、ion values of computer and business equipment.3 ConformanceIn order to comply with this International Standard, specification sheets shall contain, in the order shown, all itemslisted in clause 5 which are relevant to the machine being described.4 Test and measurement conditionsUnless otherwise spec
22、ified, all tests and measurements made by the manufacturer to provide data for scannerspecification sheets satisfying this International Standard shall be conducted at the following conditions:- temperature: 18 C to 25 C- relative humidity 30% to 70%- voltage: rated input voltage- frequency: rated f
23、requency- paper size: A4- paper weight: 60 g/m2to 90g/m2Whenever a capacity is given in sheets, the reference paper weight shall be specified.
