42、orcing mesh. The reinforcing mesh is glass fiber mesh that is encapsulated by the base coat per EIFS manufacturer recommendations and with no mesh color visible. Protective finish coats, of various thicknesses in a variety of textures and colors, are applied over the base coat. a) EIFS are non-load

43、bearing, barrier-wall, exterior cladding systems generally consisting of the following components: 1) Insulation board _ 6)Availabile from EIFS Industry Association, 3000 Corporate Center Drive, Suite 270, Morrow, GA 30260. 44、 insulation board to the substrate 3) Glass fiber reinforcing mesh 4) Base coat on the face of the insulation board 5) A textured protective finish coat 3.1.2 EIFS with Drainage An exterior cladding system with the above elements (as described in 3.1.1(a) combined with a means that allows water ente

45、ring into an EIFS assembly to drain to the exterior. 3.1.3 Adhesive: A material used to attach the insulation board to the substrate. 3.1.4 Aesthetic Reveal: A groove cut into the insulation board which serves the function of decoration and/or provides a starting or stopping point for application of

46、 the finish coat. 3.1.5 Backwrap: The practice of attaching a strip of reinforcing mesh to the wall substrate, adhesively or mechanically attaching insulation board to the substrate then wrapping the mesh around to the face of the insulation board and encapsulating it in the base coat on the return

47、edges and face of the insulation board. 3.1.6 Base Coat: A material applied to the face of the insulation board that is used to encapsulate the reinforcing mesh. 3.1.7 Cold Joint: The visible aesthetic junction in a finish coat. 3.1.8 Cure: A chemical process through which the properties of a materi

48、al are developed. 3.1.9 Drainage Medium: A material, space or plane that creates a means to drain water to the exterior. 3.1.10 Drainage: The collection and discharge of water by gravity flow. 3.1.11 Dry: A process of volatile evaporation through which the properties of a material are developed. 3.1

49、.12 Durability: The capability of the system to maintain serviceability over a specific period of time. 3.1.13 Edge wrap: A method used to protect the exposed edges of the insulation board with reinforcing mesh and base coat. 3.1.14 Encapsulated: When the reinforcing mesh color is not visible in the dried or cured base coat. 3.1.15 Expansion Joint: A structural separation between similar and/or dissimilar building components that allows independent movement of the components while preventing damage to the assembly. 3.1.16 Factory Mix: A ready-to-use adhesive base coat or f
