Scope1.1 This specification covers the minimal requirements ofski and snowboard goggles (intended for nonmotorized use) toprovide a reasonable
3、 degree of protection against snow andmoisture striking or lodging in the eye or surrounding softtissue.1.2 The scope of this specification shall include require-ments for materials, optical properties, lens strength andretention, labeling, identification, and testing procedures.1.2.1 Contact lenses
4、, sunglasses, and corrective dress eyewear are not included within the scope of this specification.(WarningImpact resistant prescription spectacles that con-form to the standard specifications of ANSI Z87.1 should beused if spectacles are to be worn under goggle-type eyewear ascovered by this specif

Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 astigmatism, ncondition in a lens that creates
9、 twoaxially separated line foci of each object point, the lines beingmutually perpendicular; in other words, the lens has twodifferent refractive powers in meridians that are 90 apart.3.1.2 base-down, adjrefers to the type of prism that causesa horizontal beam of light to bend down causing objects t
10、oappear higher than their true position.3.1.3 base-in, adjrefers to the type of prism imbalancethat tends to cause parallel rays of light passing through aprotector, spaced apart by the interpupillary distance, to con-verge.3.1.4 base-out, adjrefers to the type of prism imbalancethat tends to cause
11、parallel rays of light passing through aprotector, spaced apart by the interpupillary distance, to di-verge.3.1.5 base-up, adjrefers to the type of prism that causes ahorizontal beam of light to bend upward causing objects toappear lower than their true position.3.1.6 binocular, adjrelating to the f
12、ield of view that isshared by both eyes simultaneously; also, any simultaneousactivity of the two eyes.3.1.7 central viewing zone, nthat part of the eye of aprotector that has its center in line with the wearers normalline of sight.3.1.7.1 DiscussionThe zone is circular and 40 mm indiameter.
