6、terials Within the Use Zone of Playground Equipment3. Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 box collar arms, nthe two parts of the pole vault boxcollar to the left and right of the pole vault box. If the boxcollar has box collar wings, the wings are part of the box collararms.3.1.2 box collar body, nthe
7、part of the pole vault boxcollar that pads the horizontal surfaces around the rim of thepole vault box and under the front buns.3.1.3 box collar cutout, nthe opening in the pole vault boxcollar above the pole vault box.3.1.4 box collar wing, nthe part of the box collar arm thatextends down the inner
8、 sidewall of the pole vault box. The boxcollar wings provide protection and help to hold the box collarin place.3.1.5 front buns, nthe parts of the pole vault landingsystem that pad the areas between the standard bases andaround the pole vault box.3.1.6 front opening, nthe opening at the front of th
9、e polevault box nearest the approach runway.3.1.7 pole bend cavity, nthe rearmost portion of the polevault box and box collar cutout in front of the strike platewhere the pole bends and rotates. The cavity is formed by thesidewalls and strike plate of the pole vault box, the rearmostpart of the pole
10、 slide, and inside edges of the box collar cutoutover the deepest part of the box where the pole slide meets thestrike plate.3.1.8 pole slide, nthe floor of the pole vault box that slantsdownward from its front boundary with the runway to its rearboundary with the back of the box. The tip of the vau
11、lting poleslides on the pole slide to the strike plate.3.1.9 pole slide opening, nthe space between the ends ofthe box collar arms at the front of the pole vault box collar andabove the intersection of the runway with the pole slide.3.1.10 pole vault box, nthe trough at the end of the polevault runw
12、ay. It has four sides: a downward sloping floor orpole slide, two sidewalls, and a strike plate. A vaulter directsthe lower end of the vaulting pole into the pole vault box. Theback wall of pole vault box stops the forward motion of the endof the pole while allowing the pole to rotate about its end

Performance Requirements4.1 The average peak acceleration calculated from the lasttwo of a series of three impact tests for each impact testlocation on the pole vault box collar shall not exceed 200 gwhen impact tested
20、 in accordance with Section 9.4.2 The average HIC score calculated from the last two of aseries of three impact tests for each impact test location on thepole vault box collar shall not exceed 1150 when impact testedin accordance with Section 9.5. Dimensions5.1 Minimum DimensionsA pole vault box col
21、lar shall beat least 122 cm (48 in.) wide and 146 cm (5712 in.) long. Thedistance from the rear edge of the box collar at its base to therear edge of the box collar cutout shall be at least 38 cm (15in.). At its uppermost surface, the box collar shall cover theupper edges of each sidewall of the box
22、 from the front of thebox where the pole slide meets the runway to a point on the topedge of the sidewall no less than 20 cm (8 in.) forward of thetop of the strike plate. The box collar arms shall extend forwardat least 108 cm (4212 in.) from the base of the rear edge of thebox collar cutout. (See
23、Figs. 1 and 2.)4,55.2 Maximum ThicknessA pole vault box collar shall beno more than 10 cm (4 in.) thick.5.3 Maximum Dimensions of Box Collar CutoutAt thebox collars uppermost surface in the vertical plane passingthrough the front edge of the pole slide, the horizontal distancefrom left to right acro
24、ss the box collar cutout shall be no morethan 58 cm (23 in.). At the horizontal plane of the runway, thehorizontal distance from left to right across the rear of the boxcollar cutout at the front of the bend cavity shall be no morethan 29 cm (1112 in.).
