3、specification covers poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)Schedule 40 pipe fittings. Included are requirements formaterials, workmanship, dimensions, and burst pressure.NOTE 1Socket-type CPVC plastic pipe fittings, Schedule 40, whichwere formerly included in this standard, are now covered by SpecificationF438.
4、1.2 The products covered by this specification are intendedfor use with the distribution of pressurized liquids only, whichare chemically compatible with the piping materials. Due toinherent hazards associated with testing components and sys-tems with compressed air or other compressed gases, somema
5、nufacturers do not allow pneumatic testing of their products.Consult with specific product/component manufacturers fortheir specific testing procedures prior to pneumatic testing.NOTE 2Pressurized (compressed) air or other compressed gasescontain large amounts of stored energy which present serious
6、safteyhazards should a system fail for any reason.1.3 Fitting such as unions, flanges, special plastic-to-metaltransitions and appurtenances intended for use with PVCpiping are covered under specification F1970.1.4 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes,and appendixes which provi

Thesenotes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shallnot be considered as requirements of the specification.1.5 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. 18、mponentsHealth Effects33. Terminology3.1 GeneralDefinitions are in accordance with Terminol-ogy F412, and abbreviations are in accordance with Terminol-ogy D1600, unless otherwise indicated. The abbreviation forpoly(vinyl chloride) plastic is PVC.4. Classification4.1 GeneralThis specification covers
19、 Schedule 40 PVCpipe fittings, made from four PVC plastic compounds andintended for use with Iron Pipe Size (IPS) outside-diameterplastic pipe.4.1.1 Fittings covered by this specification are normallymolded. In-line fittings, such as couplings, bushings, caps,nipples, etc., shall be molded or machin
20、ed from extruded stock.4.1.2 Fittings fabricated by welding are not included in thisspecification.5. Materials5.1 This specification covers PVC pipe fittings made fromfive PVC plastics as classified in Specification D1784. Theseare PVC 12454, 12454, 13354, 11443, and 14333.5.2 CompoundThe PVC plasti
21、c compound shall meet therequirements of PVC 12454, 12454, 11443, or 14333, asdescribed in Specification D1784.NOTE 3Mechanical strength, heat resistance, flammability, andchemical resistance requirements are covered in Specification D1784.5.3 Rework MaterialThe manufacturers shall use onlytheir own
22、 clean rework fitting material and the fittings pro-duced shall meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Requirements6.1 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.1.1 Fitting sockets inside diameters (waterways), mini-mum wall thicknesses, and dimensions shall be as shown inTable 1, Table 2, and Table 3
23、 when measured in accordancewith Test Method D2122.6.1.2 When multistep reducer bushings are cored out, theinner socket shall be reinforced from the outer wall by aminimum of three ribs extending from the top of the innersocket to the deepest extremity of the coring. The transitionfromDtoDJ(Table 3)
24、 shall be straight, tapered as shown, orradiused. A positive taper in the same direction of the taper inthe socket on the outside diameter of the bushing is optional(See XA/XB in Table 3).Any point measured along the outsidediameter of the bushing (between points XA and XB) shall notfall below minim
