Consensus is defined by the American National StandardsInstitute (ANSI), of which ASHRAE is a member and which has approved this standard as an ANS, as “substantial agreement reached bydirectly and materially affec

This signifies the concurrence of more than a simple majority, but not necessarily unanimity.Consensus requires that all views and objections be considered, and that an effort be made toward their resolution.” Compliance with thisstandard is voluntary until and unless a lega

21、al are notoffered the right to appeal at ASHRAE or ANSI.)FOREWORDThis standard is a revision of ANSI/ASHRAE Standard128-2001, Method of Rating Unitary Spot Air Conditioners.The title has been changed in this edition of the standard toreflect the more common description of these products, “por-table
22、air conditioners.” The scope of the standard has alsobeen revised; instead of covering units of all sizes, it nowapplies only to units with a cooling capacity of 19,000 W(65,000 Btu/h) and greater. This change reflects the fact thatsmaller portable air conditioners are now covered by ANSI/AHAM Stand
23、ard PAC-1 of the Association of Home Appli-ance Manufactures, and a similar standard, Standard C370,has been issued by the Canadian Standards Association. Bothof these cover portable air conditioners with capacities up to19,000 W (65,000 Btu/h). Finally, this new edition of Stan-dard 128 adopts the
24、rating methodology of C370 (which theAHAM standard also uses) so that all portable air condition-ers can be rated in the same way.Note: This standard is adapted from Standard C370-09by the Canadian Standards Association, with appropriatemodifications due to the difference in scope.
