13、f the power take-off (PTO) drive shafts of a tractor or self-propelled machine used in agriculture and the power input connection (PIC) of its implement, in addition to what is given in ANSI/ASABE AD5673-1. It is applicable only to those PTO drive shafts and guards mechanically linked to the shaft b

14、y at least two bearings. 1.2 It is not applicable to PTO drive shafts guarded by location or to the mechanical characteristics of overrun devices and torque limiters, nor are environmental aspects considered; neither is it applicable to PTO drive shafts and their guards manufactured before the date

25、of ANSI/ASABE AD5673-1 and ANSI/ASAE S522.1. 5 Power Take-off (PTO), PTO Drive Shaft, and Power Input Connection (PIC) 5.1 Tractors having rear PTO shafts shall be equipped with PTO master shields in accordance with ANSI/ASABE AD500-1 or ASABE/ISO 500-2. Tractors having front PTO shafts shall be equ

26、ipped with PTO master shields in accordance with ANSI/ASABE AD8759-1. 5.2 PTO driven implements that require removal of the tractor PTO master shield shall include comparable guarding. 27、for reattaching the PTO master shield shall be located on the implement. 5.3 The tractor PTO master shield, the PTO drive shaft guard(s), and the PIC guard shall constitute an interactive guarding system. 5.4 The PTO drive shaft shall include a means to retain it on the tractor PTO shaft. A means th

28、at offers no projections should be used for attaching the tractor end of the PTO drive shaft and should also be used for both ends of the PTO drive shaft when such locking means are used on a PTO drive shaft where either end can be readily attached to the tractor PTO shaft. 5.5 The tractor end of th

29、e PTO drive shaft shall meet the following provisions: 5.5.1 All mechanisms shall have no protrusions in the direction of rotation; 5.5.2 An alternative is to provide PTO drive shaft guarding around the mechanisms. 5.6 The PIC guarding system shall encompass 360 of the drive shaft if the implement i

30、s intended to be used in stationary operation. Adjacent implement components may be considered to be part of the PIC guarding system. 5.7 A fully enclosed rear drive shaft guard cone as shown in Figure 5 of ANSI/ASABE AD5673-1 may replace the PIC guard on primary drive shafts and the SPTO guard and

31、the SPIC guard on secondary drive shafts. 5.8 If secondary PTO drive shafts are present on the machine and they are not guarded by location, the requirements of 5.3, 5.6 and 5.7 shall apply to them. 5.9 PTO driven equipment designed to operate in a stationary position shall be provided with a means

32、to prevent separation of the PTO drive shaft, such as a mechanical connection between the tractor and implement other than the PTO drive shaft. 6 Safety Signs 6.1 A safety sign shall be placed on the PTO drive shaft guard and it shall specify the following items: Warn of the hazards of rotating driv

33、e shafts. Do not operate without the tractor, drive shaft and implement guards in place. Do not operate without the drive shaft securely attached at both ends. Do not operate without guards that turn freely on the drive shaft. Read the operators manual. Do not use PTO adaptors. 6.2 A safety sign sha

34、ll be placed on the outer driving member of PTO drive shafts and it shall specify that the machine should not be operated with the guard missing. 6.3 A safety sign shall be provided at a prominent location on PTO powered implements specifying the normal PTO operating speed, direction of rotation indicated with an arrow, and that the tractor PTO master shield, PTO drive shaft guarding, and PIC guards are to be kept in place. 6.4 Safety signs shall conform to requirements of ANSI/ASABE AD11684.
