It is identical with ISO4117:1993 Air and air/land cargo pallets Specification and testing, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The Technical Committee has reviewed the provisions of ISO4115:198
10、7 and ISO4116:1986 to which normative reference is made in the text, and has decided that they are acceptable for use in conjunction with this standard. The text of ISO4117:1993 contained an introduction which reads as follows: “In this International Standard, the minimum essential criteria are expr
11、essed by the use of the word “shall”. Recommended criteria are expressed by the use of the word “should” and while not mandatory, are considered to be of primary importance in providing serviceable, economical and practical air transport pallets. Deviation from recommended criteria should occur only
12、 after careful consideration, extensive testing and thorough service evaluation have shown alternative methods to be satisfactory”. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Com

15、ront cover.BSM69:1993 BSI 01-2000 1 1 Scope This International Standard specifies dimensional, structural and environmental requirements for2,44m(8ft)wide pallets to be used in freightversions of high-capacity fixed-wing aircraft,intended to be compatible with the2,44m 2,44m(8ft 8ft)cross-section co
16、ntainers described in ISO8323. Pallet nets to be used in conjunction with these pallets are described in ISO4115. This International Standard establishes three classes of pallet: Type A, air-only pallets; Type B, air/land pallets; Type C, adapter pallets. Pallets have a nominal width of2,44m(8ft)and
17、 nominal lengths of3m,5m,6m,9m and12m(10ft,16ft,20ft,30ftand40ft). Air-only pallets (Type A) will normally be handled on aircraft equivalent roller conveying systems and/or on similarly equipped ancillary ground handling devices. The 5m(16ft) pallet is to be used only with this type. Air/land pallet
18、s (Type B) are suitable for air/land handling and transport systems. Supplementary requirements for type B pallets are found in 5.5.1. Air-adapter pallets (Type C) are used to adapt2,44m 2,44m(8ft 8ft) surface-mode only containers (see ISO1496-1) for air transport. Supplementary requirements for the
19、 Type C version are found in 5.5.2. NOTE 1Use of the adapter pallet with surface-mode only2,44m 2,44m(8ft 8ft) containers may require uniform load distribution on the base cross members of these containers for carriage on certain aircraft.
