The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through IS0 technical committees. Each member

41、rt of IS0 7876 establishes a vocabulary relating to fuel injectors and their components for compression- ignition (diesel) engines. NOTE - When the word “fuel“ is used in the terms listed, it may be omitted provided there can be no misunderstanding. 2 Main definitions 2.1 fuel injector: Assembly com

42、pris- ing a nozzle (2.2) and a nozzle holder (2.3) through which a metered volume of fuel under high pressure is injected into the combustion chamber. Specific designs of Injector may include the nozzle as an integral part of the nozzle holder (which is specified in IS0 2698). 2.2 nozzle: Valve comp

43、rising two principal components, namely the nozzle body and the needle (valve needle), through which the fuel is atom- ized when open. 2.3 nozzle holder: Assembly to which the nozzle (2.2) is attached for location in the cylinder head.
