7、ble assemblies when used for powering or charging applications. Thesignal transmission performance of the cable assemblies is not within the scope of these requirements.1.2 These cable assemblies are intended to be used only in the output of a power source class 2 (PS2)and electrical energy source c
8、lass 1 (ES1), or a limited power source, as determined in accordance withthe Standard for Safety for Audio/Video, Information, and Communication Technology Equipment Part1: Safety Requirements, UL 62368-1. These circuits do not exceed 60 V DC, 8.0 amperes and 100 watts.Note: These circuits are somet
9、imes referred to as low voltage, limited-power circuits, low voltage,limited-energy circuits” or NECClass 2 circuits.1.3 ICT cable assemblies may also be required to comply with industry specifications applicable to theirparticular configuration and use. 13、ts3 Units of Measurement3.1 The unit of measure shall be SI. If a value for measurement is followed by a value in other units inparentheses, the second value represents a direct conversion or an alternative value.4 Definitions4.1 For the purpose of this Outline, the following definitions apply.4.2 M
14、ARKED CABLE ASSEMBLY A cable assembly that uses physical characteristics of theconnectors, shorted or open conductors, or active or passive circuit components within the cable toprovide information about the cables power handling characteristics to the power source, the powereddevice (load), or both

The “marking” is electronically detected by the devices (power source and/orload) on either or both ends of the cable assembly.4.3 CHEATER CABLES Cable assemblies provided with inappropriate markers, connections, shorts,physical configurations, etc. that are designed to trick” the connected device
16、s into unintended modes ofoperation or disable or interfere with the intended system operation. An example of this would beshorting the data pins in a charging cable to force a power source into a high current, quick chargemode.CONSTRUCTION5 Cable Assemblies5.1 Cables shall comply with the Standard
17、for Safety for Communications Cables, UL 444, the Standardfor Safety for Power-Limited Circuit Cables, UL 13, or the Standard for Safety for Appliance WiringMaterial, UL 758, rated VW-1, jacketed and determined to be suitable for the application.5.2 Cable assemblies shall have one connector on each
18、end. Plug/connector combinations shall be of atype permitted by the relevant specification. Cable assemblies with multiple connectors on either end arenot permitted due to the danger of back-powering ports with powering voltages.5.3 A connector shall be constructed of material with a minimum flame r
19、ating of V-1 at the minimumthickness used or the finished connector/material combination shall comply with the 12 mm end-productflame test described in the Standard for Polymeric Materials Use in Electrical Equipment Evaluations,UL 746C.5.4 The measured length of a cable assembly shall be within 10
20、percent of the identified length whenmeasured from the face of one connector to the face of the connector at the far end of the cable.5.5 The rating of a marked or non-marked cable assembly shall not be less than the maximum limitestablished by the relevant specification for the cable assembly confi

22、 Only markers and configurations identified in the relevant specificationsare permitted.6.2 Cheater cables are not permitted.PERFORMANCE7 Strain-Relief Test7.1 A cable assembly shall be provided with means to keep tension on the cord from being transmittedto terminals, splices or wiring within the c
23、onnectors. The cable assembly shall comply with the test ineither (a) or (b) below. After the test, the cable assembly shall comply with the applicable requirements ofthe Dielectric Voltage-Withstand Test, Section 10.a) The Cable Pull-Out test in Cable Pull-Out Test Procedure for Electrical Connecto
24、rs, EIA 364-38, Method A. No physical damage to the cable assembly shall occur when it is subjected to a40 N (9 lbf) axial load for a minimum of 1 minute while clamping one end of the cable plug.b) The plug, connector, or jack is to be mounted with the cord hanging in a vertical position.
